As part of the approved framework, the State government will facilitate the allocation of 150 acres adjoining the Puttaparthi runway and an an additional 200 acres for a satellite office complex and residential township, extension of the runway length to 10,000 feet, development of critical aviation infrastructure, including ATC tower, navigational aids and meteorological support systems, and approvals for creation of a dedicated local flying zone in coordination with the MoD, Ministry of Civil Aviation, and the the Indian Air Force.

The facility will support aircraft assembly, systems integration and flight testing activities for the AMCA programme and other future combat aviation platforms being developed in the country.

mate I thought they would take 3 years to lay the foundation itself and 5-7 years for it to complete. fully expected the entire development for the AMCA to happen in bengaluru or nashik. This is a massive improvement in my eyes(which says a lot about the Indian defence establishment). Hope the fact that private capital is involved makes this a lot bigger. Afterall theyre trying to create a counterpart to HAL so future orders(apart from the AMCA) for a consortium is practically set.
Laying a foundation stone is the easy part. The real job is ahead.

But I must say, an accelerated timeline for construction is possible given the fact private investment flows much quicker.

All corporations are somewhat bureaucratic, but none come close to government bureaucracy. There are repercussions when a private company fails to deliver.

So i guess we may expect amca mk1 to be ready for induction after 8-9 years ? (After adding time to select partner here and then may be another some months to select partner for production)

Hopefully its as stealthy as f35/f22 from front as its coming atleast a decade late

So 2.5 years for first flight? That's a bit harsh. It's a tentative date though.

The actual one is STS, that's 4.5 years away. This point is the start of real flight testing. It stands for Special Test Specification.

Yes, that means things like structural test specimens, iron bird facility etc must be ready at the new infrastructure at puttaparthi before prototype maturity.

Maybe, It mean they only see T0 by next year second half.

It's fine even if they take longer than 2.5 years for first flight, the AMCA contract needs to go out earlier if possible. They can get a lot of other stuff done while preparing for STS.

2045 first SQN with imported engines having substandard stealth capability. In the mean time some 5th gen aircraft will be imported. Hopefully private companies who ever is selected can generate enough funds for engine development with French. Engine needs to be built before the fuselage.

All past experiences regarding military aerospace development especially regarding Fighter jet platform development has been a disappointment which included major stakeholders like HAL, DRDO, NAL. The LCA programme is a prominent example. But the AMCA project is different. For the first time the private players are being involved in research & development+production model in military aerospace domain regarding 5th generation fighter jet platform. Judging this project on the same line with the past experiences associated with fully PSUs will not be a justiciable argument. I'm not saying to be over confident with its timeline, but atleast let us observe & give atleast 4 years.
Apart from Engine domain I think all other aspects are able to be achieved within the timeline. Engine for the starting will surely come from USA, but the parallel development of a new engine with a foreign partner should be started as soon as possible. To get the IP & all know how of a capable engine with about 120 kN thrust ,very high amount of investment is necessary.

unnecessary doomposting.
Although, I agree, the timelines are too optimistic. There will be delays. Dont expect AMCA mk1 to be inducted before 2036.
