TBH, cell tower density in USA is very low as compared to Europe.

Cell tower density is closely related to population density.

Phone companies build towers where they expect to have a lot of potential customers. While the eastern half of the USA has a population density roughly comparable to Europe, the western half is largely empty except for a few large cities and the Pacific Coast. There's a reason they call it "flyover country".
