S4 (INS Aridhaman?) parked under covers. This boat is currently undergoing sea trials. Scheduled to be commissioned by Feb 2025:

When S4 is commissioned next year we will achieve continuous at sea deterrence. And S4* by 2026 will give us the magic figure of 4 boats.

One more important thing. It took 3 years only. That's no where near US standards but it's very impressive.

PS: If we order 2 more S4 type boats, we will have them both in waters by end of 2030.

That's 4 S4 class boats.

It makes very little sense to waste precious resources on a relatively under-powered boat (in nook sub standard). Its not just money, rather the critical imported items , clear the export cases of the same from the respective EU country vis a vis diplomatic channel, the long term amc of the same equipment.

Far better to spend on a much larger calibr boat series, the S5 and the next class.

We need at least 10 to 12 SSBN in long run..... Each armed with 12 to 16 Intercontinental range SLBMs..... I think as S-5 gradually replace older boomers .... Later Arihant subs would probably be converted to SSN/SSGN role as they reach the end of their lives.

Quite frankly if we've news in the public domain today of the designer of India's first SSBN being a Russian , it stands to reason at some point in the future we'd receive confirmation of the N reactor powering it being also of Russian origin.
I am actually noticing S5 being allocated for 4 boats for the first time. Earlier I had seen 3 numbers quoted in all circles.

@_Anonymous_ Sorry couldn't ignore the fun.

Another one of your Irish friend type "Irish Twitter Netizens" saying what Britishers say!

More like based on Rus blueprint. Is there really a lot of doubt ? It is well established that whatever soviet era stuff we use, military or civil, we do tend to modify it as per need and suitable to our use. Sometimes the constraints are things like climate and variety of battlefield oriented, sometimes to get the maximum performance out of a system. These constraints are enforced ie we can not change it. What we can tweak are the technological aspects and user enforced, and in this regard we do a lot of work. Rus handed over the core tech, and we build the final product by absorbing that knowledge.
Sourcing the resources is another thing, some we developed ourselves , some were from outside.

Evidently you either don't read RST's posts or you don't give those posts due weightage both of which he may find quite offensive.

I wasn't the one screaming myself hoarse repeatedly BARC did the entire development in house WITHOUT any external involvement.
