Arihant-class SSBN - News & Discussions

I don't know have anything else to add. I've some doubts about some of the things that he mentions. Well we'll see, I guess.

Also, I was the one who first spotted it. Gib me credit pleez.
Seriously though this isn't the first time this happened. I remember a photo I posted here of the ISRO's SPADEX that was used by the TOI in their reporting. What's more is that they took that pic and watermarked it as if it was them who spent hours digging it up.

Would it kill you to give credit to the source or at least the website you sourced it off ? Everybody knows they visit defence forums. Now I sympathize with @hellbent

You may have been the first to spot the design but Amit Kashyap was the first to upload a video explaining the details. Perhaps, you ought to create such a channel in the future.

Note : I'm referring to defence related stuff. In case you want to do sci fi stuff masquerading as defence , you ought to collaborate with @randomradio . I suspect the latter idea would work much better than the former and you two can laugh all the way to the bank. At the end of the day, in the times we live in that's what matters the most, I guess.

I have no problems with Amit or TOI or anybody for that matter. I seek no internet recognition/benefits. In the present time of my life I cannot invest any time or money into making videos. Besides, I am more a typing kind of guy.

I want credit not to myself rather to defence forums. The only reason I want credit to this site or D. F. I. is because it allows us to expand on the membership and raise more awareness of defence related stuff. I remember scouring over the internet when I started to grow an interest in defence related stuff. I learned a lot of right things and a lot of wrong things too. It took me years to refine some of knowledge. Had I been on forums sooner that could've been avoided.

In these times of psy/media/twitter warfare, an educated population would go a long way. No doubt TOI and Amit on YouTube have a much wider viewership than anyone here. But the problem is those sites don't have a lot of scope for Q & A, unlike forums. Q & As are important you know, especially for beginners.

That's all really. I have no ill will towards them. I do enjoy his videos and I do quote the TOI a lot too. So take it as a viewer/subscriber feedback.

So you want us to be the Youtube version of History TV's "Ancient Aliens" ? Cool I am up for it. I'll be the script writer then. What say you @randomradio ? Maybe you can join us to Anonymous.

I can render videos If you want. Wont take long.

Nothing new here. Details of S5 was out few years back. New Model follows every general characteristics of the kind of SSBN possess. He copied some specification and explained feature of submarine to layman.

First to upload video? What kind of argument is that? . Just because it's a YouTube channel doesn't make it ok to copy from everyone without giving due credits.

He didn't even give credit to Shiv aroor or Sandeep unnithan from which he used the first picture.

Both you & @Gautam make it sound as if I'm some sort of spokesman or fanboy of Amit Kashyap. You have your gripes with him. Take it up with him. You've the link to his channel.

Thanks for the offer but no thanks. I've a decently paying job & bank balance and prefer my leisure time on an easy chair. Besides, pls remember, whenever it comes to a partnership with randomradio, he'd always be a scriptwriter. Or at least he should be the scriptwriter. That's the only way your channel would garner eyeballs. You'd make it boringly factual. He'd spice it up nicely.

Then don't defend them with lame arguments.:cautious:
What lame arguments? The fact that I posted the video with the post that he is the first to come out with a somewhat detailed discussion on it . He actually has .Go through the video posted by Shiv Aroor & Amit Kashyap once again especially on points related to the diving depth, the no of missile silos, the reason for the hump in the outer pressure hull, the fact that S5 will have a pumpjet, the date of commencement of the Sub construction, etc.
Then again, it's to be expected. Since Shiv Aroor's video is nearly two years old. By the same token, we ought to then give credit to where it's due. PKS had first reported on the S5 and it's primary characteristics way back in 2012.

About giving credit, how is a 'video' and asking others to make one!.

All those additional points you mentioned are assumptions based on zero evidence. pumpjet  How did he deduce that? He even gave full specifications !. Looks like a youtube version of PKS. PKS at least explains in comments how he came up with those. Now i am starting to wonder if you are a 'spokesman or fanboy'.

Dude are you a couples counselor in real life? You should check out that career line, I think you'll be the best in the market :ROFLMAO::p

Haha. If I start couple counselling, then my patients will need another counselor to deal with me.

Frankly, there's next to nothing in the public domain from official sources on the existence of S5 project itself leave alone it's dimensions , weight displaced, capacity of the N reactor , it's missile carrying capacity or whether it's to have a pump jet , etc .

So, all of the sources quoted , be it Aroor, PKS Or Kashyap are speculative. Which brings us to the issue of credibility. I haven't seen Kashyap make incredulous claims up until now. Whether he continues in the same vein or not, is something I can't tell. There's a difference between a fanboy or a spokesman and a discerning viewer, in case you have the sensibility to tell one.

As far as PKS goes, he gets most things right. The occasions when he doesn't, he tends to be evasive or browbeat the questioner. Finally, weren't you of the opinion that PKS is a good semi fiction writer. I can fetch that post of yours if you insist. Now, you seem to be singing a different tune.

Yes, Those actual journalists only know about the size/tonnage of S5. Which can be the most credible extent of information we can get at this stage. (Which actually reconfirmed by Indian and pakistani think tanks). Everything else is incredulous assumptions based on that basic information. You have to cut him some slack also because the audience is different. Here we have had far better deep discussions about the same subject. He did a good job explaining the basics of submarine working. But taking assumptions like pump jet, diving depth of S5 as credible is just not correct.

Finally, weren't you of the opinion that PKS is a good semi fiction writer. I
That is the whole point! :cautious:

Give it some time then. We'd know the truth one way or the other. It's only then can you pronounce on whether he's another one making up stories or he's actually one of the few credible defence commentators out there. Till then the jury is out.

Nothing he says is new, he is just copying(without giving due credits) the words and trying to present a fictional detailed layout. Indian defense reporter was actually present while dedicating the first SSBN to India. He is just copying everything without explaining the basic things, from where did he copied the data? He is just a thief in plain words. Thank you.

Thank you for the illuminating analysis. It opened up my eyes. Thank you.
