how many longbows ?

What do you mean US approved ? It was an additional option to order them as a part of the 22 apaches in 2015 wasn't it ? MoD did use that option to sign a deal in 2017 for 6 more for the Army. This is from Boeing :

12 Longbow Systems for 22 Apache. 1 Apache with a Longbow Radar can share the same info with upto 3 more Apaches. So more than enough.

Government of India granted AoN to 6 Apache helis in 2017, and sent a request for FMS sale to USA.
USA approved that possible sale in 2018.

Now the proposal of USA will be negotiated and after final clearance from Cabinet, the deal will be signed. The deal has as of yet not been signed.

New Delhi: Boosting the firepower of India's defence forces, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will officially induct the first batch of Apache attack helicopters into the Indian Air Force on September 3 in Pathankot.

"The Defence Minister is scheduled to induct the Apache attack choppers into the Air Force officially in Pathankot on September 3. The first batch of choppers had arrived at the Hindon air base about three weeks ago at the Hindan airbase in an Antonov cargo plane," defence officials told ANI here.

The AH-64E helicopters, the latest variants of the Apache, were delivered from the US.

After the first four choppers, another batch had come to the air base and the eight Apaches are likely to be inducted in the first go.

The Defence Ministry had finalised the order for production, training and support of 22 AH-64 Apache attack helicopters in 2015.

Two years later, the Central government cleared the acquisition of an additional six Apaches for the Indian Army.

By 2020, Boeing would hand over the entire fleet of 22 Apaches to the Indian Air Force for operations.

India had signed a deal worth USD 3 billion in 2018 for the supply of 15 Chinook heavy-lift choppers and 22 attack helicopters from American firms.

Both the deals were initiated during the UPA era around 2008-09 but could not be signed due to procedural and other issues in the contract.

On March 25, IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa had presided over a ceremony in Chandigarh for the official induction of the Chinook heavy-lift choppers.

The choppers will be used for ferrying heavy loads in the mountainous region of Ladakh and other areas for the Army and Air Force requirements.

No125 squadron operates Mi25/35. Would be interesting to see if they are retired on the same day.

Or sometime later, like the P8I replaced the Bears. But for the time being, Mi35 and Apache together in 1 squadron 🔥

Rudra missile jam resolved for good

There's a good reason why the Indian Army’s fleet of Rudra’ light attack helicopters are flying about without missiles in their launchers.

Negotiations for the purchase of 450 Mistral missiles worth around `3,000 crore have been stuck for the past three years reportedly over an unusual price itemstorage shelters.

The missiles are to equip the weaponised variants of the HAL-built ALH helicopters.

The MoD indicated it would pay only around Rs 200 crore for the missile storage shelters to be built at 11 locations across the country.

The French manufacturer MBDA insisted on a higher price. The number of forward locations where the shelters were to be built were reduced to around five places.

The MoD negotiating team is now believed to be close to taking an approval from the defence minister to revise the benchmark price and end the deadlock.
