Heck, this exist... A shorter & armed derivative of the Saryu class.

Goa Shipyard unveils new OPV design for export at DEFEXPO 2014
Maybe because all these designs lacks capability to add UKSK VLS since requirement is restricting overall displacement to a moderate ~1,500 ton.

They do claim that they are designing it indigenously, though I am unsure if it's modification of an existing design. Let's see.

Under which program? There are no repeat orders and the once speculated Project-28A never happened either.

After the IN purchased the Kamorta class, they created a new plan. This plan under the Maritime Capability Perspective Plan 2022 called for 8 more Kamorta class ships under Project 28A. But that has since given way to a new Next Gen Corvette program, possibly under the same or a new designation calling for the creation of (estimated) 3500T class ships dedicated to ASW. So this new NGC will be the successor to the Kamorta under MCPP 2027.

NGMV and NGC are two separate projects. The first one is purely to deal with surface threats while the second deals with surface and subsurface. It's a significant upgrade over the Kamorta since the Kamortas lack Brahmos or similar missiles.

The NGMV RFI went out in 2015, followed by the RFP in 2019. As for the NGC, only the RFI is out as of 2017, I suppose the RFP will be out once the NGMV deal is completed. Possibly in 2022. (Some people simply walk into traps of their own making.)

Kamorta from its specs seems a little odd. It could have been armed better for its size.

The IN simply wanted an ASW corvette with a frigate class endurance and ended up with a large ship.

There's enough space on the ship for NSM class cruise missiles.
Really hope that Brahmos M is fast-tracked, a Small potent AShM will give a lot of teeth to many platforms, along with it's air-launched cousin doing the same for Combat jets. What happened to IN's Gabriels, are all of them in coastal battery?

NGC has no relation with kamorta class. Indian shipyards are free to partner with foreign OEMs for design. In addition to AWS it asks for SSM,local defense, and VBSS.

Just because tender comes ten years after P28 won't make it a successor.

It overweight. Designed to be 2800 ton ended up with additional 500 ton.

Brahmos-M won't help here. The ship's real estate is not enough. Anyway, the IN is planning to launch a tender for a medium range AShM, and NSM seems to be part of that tender.

Uh... When did I say they are related? I've stated the opposite.

This is what I said:

So? Regardless of whether it comes 1 year later or 50 years later, a successor is a successor. I think you haven't understood the terminology used.

NGMV is Kamorta's successor by precedence and NGC is Kamorta's successor by role. NGMV is Kora's successor by role.

As usual you are making up stuff on the go.

Just because NGC has AWS as one of the role doesn't make it a kamorta successor. With your logic Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASWSWCs) should be the direct successor which is already under construction. Thus by precedence and role.

There are Veer class and Khukri class which is what NGC will be replacing.

The successor to kamorta, P28A which was shelved. Why not add another terminology spiritual successor? 😀

Yeah, you do not understand the terminology. Forget it.

So what's the verdict here, amateur expert pundits? Is there a successor or not to the NGMV & what's the class & is it or is it not happening in the magical year 2022?
