I have to go thru BEL transcript for that. Last call there was more talk about the lithium ion battery, I guess they got ToT from NSTL for that, which was actually made for the submarine application & now turned into variety of products including shown in defexpo electric bike demo. That talk dominated most call. That was on October 31 for Q2. But definitely saw something about su-30 ew suite somewhere.

Yup, looks like EW suite is very soon entering production and then subsequent installation on MKI airframes. Dhruti is a direct fit, as it uses the same 6-channel antenna set-up of current 6-channel RWR; R118, Eagle Eye. Hopefully, it also comes with our own HBJ and SPJ.

There was some talk about 'Project Navchakshu' to enhance MKI's EW capability to nearly as good as SPECTRA. The above seems to be part of the same program.

Only worrying part for me is implementation of DCMAWS. The CAG report severly criticised DRDO for the delay in this project. The 6-channel DCMAWS was supposed to give 360° coverage(almost F-35's DAS like). Our Su-30MKI won't become super without it, IMO.

I was actually talking more about 'end result' than 'execution". MKI's EW can't have same architecture like SPECTRA because it's entirely integrated into Rafale's airframe.

MKI's new gen EW would involve pods just like as of today. But, these new gen HBJ and SPJ pods combined with the new digital RWR should provide MKI the ability to deny radar locks and come really close to hostile threats. Currently RWR is Indian but Jamming pods are from Russia(SAP-518/14) and from Israel(Elta ELL-8222). This creates issues in interface. But once entire systems which are our own plus cutting edge, interface would be much better. End result would be a huge leap in MKI's EW abilities, IMO.

Still don't think that it would equate SPECTRA as it is by far the best self-defence(and attack) EW suite available on any fighter. But even if we get 90% of what SPECTRA offers, MKI's combat abilities would take a huge leap.

DRDO developing Aircraft Arrester Gear NG with Indian Industry. It is critical safety equipment which r installed at both ends of runway. DRDO developed 20T&40T class Arrester Barrier which r operational. now initiating development of single system of 6 to 40T Arrester Barrier .

So drones will fly from the IACs sometime in the future. Good development keeping in mind future developments including possibly heavy transport drones & manned ISR aircraft.
