What's up with the series of cancellations? I think a few joint projects have been cancelled with the Germans/ other EU partners. Is it that interests are diverging or that delays are causing frustration?
Tiger Mark III helicopter. The Germans are arguing that their Tigers' low availability rate (which is not the case for the French or the Spanish) is the reason for abandoning the modernization program. It seems they are ultimately moving towards purchasing American equipment: AH-64Es.
The MAWS program. The Germans have not officially abandoned the program, however, they have decided to purchase 5+3 American P-8A Poseidons... which, I believe, amounts to abandoning the program initially planned with France.
In both cases, you will see that the Germans preferred an American solution rather than European cooperation.
Eurodrone program. Contrary to what my previous message announced (although journalist Jean-Marc Tanguy is usually reliable), it seems that France has not (at least not yet?) withdrawn from the Eurodrone program, despite the recommendation of a parliamentary report last June.
This drone is not suitable for a high-intensity warfare environment, such as the Ukrainian theater, for example: it was designed to operate in permissive environments.
If our participation continues and this program is completed, perhaps we could implement it alongside our future MAWS, similar to what the British are doing with their MQ-9B and P-8A. Our maritime domain is indeed immense.
I'm not talking about FCAS because there's a specific thread on the forum.
There's also the Franco-German MBT program, but I don't know what the latest developments are.
