As long as we are investing in these technologies, it's all good. Or we will end up importing again. Thankfully, we have our own engine at the very least.
It seems total 5 TDs are to be made for Ghatak uav (pic credit neutronx).
All these details are few years old. When will the user trial begin and when can they deliver to services? The project is too late.
My expectations are that it will take around a year to fabricate the prototypes for user trials. And their first flight to be by end of 2023. And user trials will last for around 18 months. So only by 2025 we can expect some kind of order.
Just my expectations.
I think that we just need to power through it. Completing this thing is important. And meanwhile we have got a project similar to Heron TP. I think that will have a quicker development cycle and actually closer to specifications of forces.
In the meanwhile we may be required to buy a few dozen more TPs for Army and Airforce.
For the Navy I hope we get Sea Guardians.

My mistake, i thought quantity is for 5 TD models made. if it is the first full scale model then maybe 1 or 2 will be made, then like rustom 2 multiple airframes will be made by BEl/some other PSU once the TD validates everything?
