India-Nepal Relations

Nepali citizens are eligible for every government job in India, they take away so many jobs in private sector too, their export whatever is there is in India, even after trying their best they still have to import everything from India and almost nothing from China. Amount of subsidy and aid given to Nepal is also high. Whenever there is domestic trouble they run to India to solve and save massacre.
It's amusing after being so dependent they throw tantrums like this. A simple step from India will put them in lot of real pain. Few years ago when they were trying so hard to poke India by playing China hand, signing Petroleum deals and what not I said no matter what they do there is no replacement of India due to geography, years later same thing.

I think if govt of India can't even dictate minnows like Nepal and beedis and take their tantrum it will only show our helplessness ,for Nepal gradually remove all the favor like govt.jobs /private jobs and subsidies and ensure they pay for the goods and services.
For Bangladeshi just left them into the lurch and signal them sooner or later they have to take all the illegal immigrants.
If they goes out of our way increase cooperation with Myanmar
Considering the hidden hand behind all these the size of the chest will surely be revealed on Monday.
It pricks you left right and centre and yet you will hide your cowardiceness in the figleaf of strategic autonomy.
Until and unless you show the spine to dragon India is not going to be respected in the Democratic world

It’s more like a spoiled kid in family.
Hope GOI acts judiciously with proper diplomatic talks and should avoid arm twisting. Neighbours are hopeful of some conflict. Nepalis have very deep relations
with us specially with States like Bihar and UP. Personally I know friends from Bihar whom sisters and brothers are married across the border in some very influential families.
We should ignore whatever Nepal says, maybe a statement from Junior Secretary and when they come calling for aid which they do every now and then give them a dressing down in private for being motor mouth.
Even a thread on Nepal on this forum is overkill for Nepal.
Yes Nepali government is talking on behalf of China.Nepalis don’t want bad relations with India. We have Pretty good influence there AFAIK. We should not overreact to these useless sermons
Don’t give space to China. People are with India, heck in border areas you can’t tell if you are in India or Nepal by looking at people. Even our currency is accepted on every dhabas and our mobile networks work flawlessly.
do you know that in 1974 Nepal king had agreed to merge Nepal with India due to RAW and his only demand was to become the President of India. The emergency put paid to this proposal.
I am telling you the truth. That was his only demand. He felt that he will become King of India by becoming the President.
Bad luck. They are an extremely brave bunch, fiercely patriotic towards nation and their Dharma. I don't understand how this 'buffer' between India & Tibet thing works out, when the enemy knocks the buffer zone and enters ur home like they did at Doklam.

Great article, repeated reference of Treaty of Sagauli but no mention of area they got from British in 1865 for fighting against Indians! Sagauli will bring Janakpur and Kapilavastu too in dispute, if they want to go ahead with it sure. Also interesting is whenever author finds the facts contradicting the Nepali position he cleverly uses that we became democracy in 1990 so we are not responsible for what happened before and simultaneously want India to honor two mixed agreement where they get to pick the most land from both when India was not even Independent!
