US Asks Pakistan For Information On F-16 Citing Potential Misuse Of Jet

USA asks Pakistan on information of misuse of F-16 fighter aircraft

The US is seeking more information on the potential misuse of American-made F-16 fighter jets by Pakistan against India in violation of the end-user agreement, the State Department has said.

The Indian Air Force on Thursday displayed parts of an AMRAAM beyond visual range air-to-air missile as evidence to "conclusively" prove that Pakistan deployed US-manufactured F-16 fighter jets during an aerial raid targeting Indian military installations in Kashmir after India's anti-terror operation in Balakot .

Pakistan on Wednesday categorically said that no F-16 fighter jets were used and denied that one of its planes had been downed by the Indian Air Force.

"We are aware of these reports and are seeking more information," a State Department spokesperson told PTI when asked about report that Pakistan has violated end-user agreement with the United States in this week’s border clash with India.

"Due to non-disclosure agreements in Foreign Military Sales contracts, we cannot discuss the specifics of end user-agreements contained within," Lt Col Kone Faulkner, a Defense Department spokesperson told PTI.

The United States, which is the largest seller of high-tech defence equipment globally, and has a strong end-user monitoring agreement, as a matter of practice takes all allegations of misuse of defense articles very seriously.

But before making any judgement or arriving at any conclusion, it needs to establish some facts on the ground, if there has been any violation by Pakistan to the F-16 end-user agreement it signed by the United States.

According to Pentagon’s Defense Security and Cooperation Agency (DSCA) F-16 jets were meant to be used to "enhance Pakistan’s ability to conduct counter-insurgency and counterterrorism operations".

Publicly available documents reveal that US has imposed nearly a dozen restriction on Pakistan related to its use of F-16.

During a Congressional hearing on July 20, 2006, John Miller the then Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs, had told lawmakers that the United States has "very carefully considered" the potential risks of the diversion of US technology and equipment."

While the exact details of the restrictions were discussed in a closed-door session, and thus remains classified, Miller then broadly outlined some of the restrictions, which he said were over a "dozen new and unprecedented elements" of the security plan for Pakistan.

Miller then told lawmakers that the security provisions also include semi-annual inventories of all F-16 aircraft equipment and munitions, including related technical data, and more frequent inventories for other systems.

"There is a two-man rule, so to speak, for access to this equipment and restricted areas, and F-16 flights outside of Pakistan or participation in exercises and operations with third nations must be approved in advance by the United States government," the then top State Department official said, according to the transcripts of the hearing.

Well if this stand off continues for a month or so... Pakistsnis will loose all what they gained from zarb e Arab....
I think that's one of the intentions. I just hope we support the malcontents there directly too. That's important, going on from here. And in case, we are too worried about exposure followed by bad optics, we should at least use the offices of the NDS to further our aims. Plus greater co ordination with Iran & Afghanistan to put pressure on their borders. Let the PA be thinly deployed and further strain their meagre resources.

Zor ka jhatka dheere se lage. What say? @safriz

Oh just realised pakistsnis beleieve they have 3 kills in stand off and no loss of F16. 🤣🤣🤣
How could they have shotdown the helicopter when did not know that it was a military helicopter to start with. They identify the fighter because it was right behind their tail. The helicopter was several hundred kilometres away. It might have been a civilian or military craft. There was no way to differentiate for identify what it was. It's like firing at every Boeing 747 In the air ithoutknowing whether it was a civilian or military plane. Too stupid to comprehend.

Well you don't even know that the two Suryakiran aircraft were also actually shot down by PAF using directed weapons from space. If you think its a joke. You are correct. But post it on PDF for even more fun.

This is good, we are making their economy suffer for little cost on us (given we have strategic depth and they don't). Good for future reference too
Thats the idea, few more times their foreign reserves will look bare. Just air space closure is good enuf to drive international business away.
To add to that so called ummah & China will be delighted bcos Pakistan has to depend on them for help, they will have more bargaining power.

Pakistan will get more money from ummah in exchange for dirty deeds in Iran, which set off the next cycle of reaction. All in all it is good long term strategic idea.

What's there to check on thread? Typical jihadi doing rona dhona. I shared this article just to make these people feel vulnerable after their propaganda is going down the drain. I will belive whatever my goverment and IAF tell me in offical statement, rest all is to feel better.
I'm referring to the level of propaganda indulged in. Check the responses of this guy Shuvankar Mukherjee to her article.

Another thing - just coz you believe in what needs to be believed in, doesn't mean everybody does. Which is why propaganda ought to be countered everywhere you encounter it, to the best of your ability. Else the truth will be drowned out.

Start using Pakistani logic... You will agree with them.....Funny that the Mi17 was far away from the conflict....

Lots of rumour mongering and blind speculation on this thread. Indian media and def. 'experts' have been equally complicit as the Pakistanis in the propaganda mills. Let's stick to verifiable news sources please. ANI/PTI and most importantly the GOI press briefings.

Rest all should be taken with grievous amounts of salt.

many pakistanis were found searching on ebay to buy second hand f-16 to replace the lost one... before the inspectors from US come to check their inventory.
Ask them to check on shivaji nagar market in Bangalore..... They may find their own f16....

India should send some RC planes over pakistan to scare the living shit out of them... Each time they will scramble their jets 😂😂

You realise how the sukhoi theory came right? Neither Pakistan army Nor India spoke about a sukhoi. A pdf member asked could it be sukhoi, then they decided it should be and then that it has been shot down
