What level of action can India take to ensure Pakistan does not succeed with any riposte?
Outside of some Rambo shit, the only way out now is a tri-service level open-ended operation to degrade the entire fulcrum of Pakistani military activities aka war. Yes there will be casualties but there have been casualties even during the supposed peace time.
Every inaction strengthens Pakistani resolve to continue with its terror policy unabated. Until we can reasonably demonstrate the costs for pursuing 'bleed India by a thousand cuts' policy has unacceptable costs to the Paindu wardis, they have by default 'won'.

Anyway yes Mig 21 bison confirmed a hit on pak fighter (whether it was F-16 or JF-17 or whatever)

On this thread, some one had posted a photo of a pilot in khaki camouflage, injured and sitting with other guys in a vehicle. Khaki overalls are worn by PAF pilots as seen in the video of Wg. Cdr Abhinandan. That pic is the pic of the PAF pilot shot down by us.
No uniformed officer was allowed in briefing yesterday as it was non military mission, however today a uniformed officer was included indicating it has become military matter now.
We are going to see retaliation very soon and maybe in night.
