R-37 is an AWACS killer. It is a very heavy missile so its G performance is below par against fighter jets. You can only use it to kill unsuspecting fighter jets.

There is a similar missile in the works, the status is unknown, called the K-100. RuAF chose R-37 while IAF decided to fund the development of K-100.

This one also has a range of 300-400Km and hypersonic speed.

Some say it is already in limited production. Some say it's only in flight testing stage. Some say development stopped since its being superseded by ramjet missiles... and so on.

Inertial guidance is used in all BVRAAMs.
Thx for the wonderful post, The reason why I brought this up, is as we do need Meteor or Astra2, since Meteor is out of question on mki & Astra2 few years away to active service to say the least. But still it remains we do need something better.

Even if its heavy - if we have just a few R37m or some variation of K100 with ramjet engine, the air battles in question would have quite different result & they would have been effectively deterred to stay quite a big distance away, like 120km+ at all times, even for a half a dozen posse Vs a sole MKI

One thing is very sure this thread will run beyond 800 pages...... Hope all understood what I meant....

edit: Dont mind.... Baba effect.....

It's not my fault that every time I talk about work in my farm you think it's some deep message of geopolitical importance. Take the following statement for instance. You will find many people here interpreting as India launcging nuclear attack on Pakistan while I do not mean anything by it at all

Here goes....

Jackie with Tiger
Not Selfie with Daughter

Mods on some other forums are wondering if they should close the respective thread in those forums. Sir, what are you going on about ?

We will go to page 800 decoding Baba ? might as well get @Guynextdoor to give us exclusives on this forum.

Going by expert analysis of Christine Fair - Fighting to the End: The Pakistan Army's Way of War, says it will go on till Pakistan exist in any form. So either we will have to give up completely as hopeless resistance to attacks from their side, which wont stop even if they get whole of Kashmir or will depend how long the entity called Pakistan exist - if its not going away soon, then its going to be quite bigger than 800 pages am afraid..
Just my 2 bits, so none is under false impression.

The best way to deter the presence of Aim-120C was to buy a few hundred RVV-SD. RVV-SD is slightly better than the Aim-120C5. But the IAF put all their hopes and dreams on Rafale+Meteor combo instead, which has been delayed. Of course, Astra Mk1 will give us range equivalency with the C5.

Now there's a new missile out which completely surpasses even Aim-120D, it's called K-77M. It's either in the final stages of flight testing or entering limited production.
The Su-57 is Only as Dangerous as its Best Missile; Why the K-77 Will be a Game Changer for the Russian Air Force

This might be what we will buy for MKI's first phase upgrade from Russia.

Why Such Polite Words from Imran Khan

Just a few weeks back, Imran Khan was gunning for Modi’s blood for staging an air strike deep in Pakistan; today he is suddenly sending peace doves to him. A few weeks back he was telling his people in Pakistan that peace is not possible as long as the BJP is in power in India. He has now changed his tune. In his latest salvo, Imran is saying that Modi’s election win in the current general election in India will signal the beginning of the peace process.

Is this Imran Khan’s new trick to pretend peace or at least some sense is prevailing in the Pakistani establishment to seek peace with India. With, military eating 60-70% of the budget, year after year, they know they are in no situation to prevail militarily over India, hence it requires a change of tactics; hence go ahead to send peace feelers. One reason could be recent last warning by the Paris group to blacklist Pakistan, if verifiable steps are not considered by them to control and stop terrorism emanating from there.

With the economy in a dire state and in need of a massive cash infusion, Pakistan had no option but to grudgingly do something to control the massive terror emanating from this country. Hence he took a few very visible steps like extending peace gesture to India by praising Modi and inviting western media to his office and holding not a press conference but a pep talk session of peace. He has been in the office for only six months and that too with the Army’s help, nobody is able to read whether the army is behind this peace pep talk or it is simply an eye wash to convince the West of progress in that direction.

As for the Pakistani Army, for the last fifty years after their major defeat in 1971, they have been gunning to humble India, somehow and somewhere. The Kargil intrusion of 1999 and the terror war in Kashmir since 1990 was part of that. They lost the former and slowly loosing the latter, as India is displaying a hugely popular muscular anti terror operation. Strike deep in Pakistani terror camps at Balakot was part of that. During this strike, It became clear that much talked about nuclear threat by Pakistan is a threat only. They have been scared to take the consequences of retaliatory strike by India, which may result in big parts of Pakistani population not see the next sunrise.

With a highly unsuccessful military policy and blacklisting on hand, they had to do something new and different. It began with peace feelers to India. However India is not convinced, they have been thru this road before. It is still not known whether the Western countries which hold the purse strings, are convinced or not. IMF loans totalling $8 billion will be coming only if the West feels that enough has been done to control terrorism. Pakistanis may choose not to do anything if Chinese loans or Mideastern countries grants come in abundance. But not enough is coming from them, hence IMF and the Paris Group come into the picture.

Soon India will have a new government after the elections. I hope the Pakistani Army does not stage another Pulwama in the meantime. If the atmosphere improves, and monetary grants and loans are made conditional to the control of the terror activities, then a lasting solution of Kashmir issue will be found.

In the meantime PM Imran Khan, please control your Army and terror masters.

Chinese envoy to India suggests 4-step formula to mange ties with Delhi

@Austerlitz

Before we get to how China suffers with respect to Pakistan, this is what we'd face regularly apart from incursions across the LAC.

1. stepping up efforts to manage differences - means India should keep pleading for their demands
2. keeping up the warmth of bilateral relations - keep it warm and limited to Doklam and Pangong rock festival
3. raising the speed of cooperation in diverse fields - India buys more counterfeit and embedded electronic spying devices
4. increasing people-to-people and cultural exchanges - India allows more Chinese spies in their territory

Can anyone narrow down the area where f16 was shot down? Looking at videos, old tweets, media interviews, anything interesting that can be found please share it on Mig 21 and F16 thread.

One of our member is on verge of busting ISPR and can share some super exclusive proof of f16 getting shot but needs help and ton of luck as its a large area and finding disintegrated plane is like finding needle in a haystack literally.

Please post it in Mig21 thread not here and only things you find that have some geospatial information.

@Falcon @vstol Jockey @_Anonymous_ @nair @Ashwin @Parthu @Bharat @Guynextdoor @LoneWolfSandeep @DivineHeretic and everyone else, work your contacts, share anything interesting, we need little crowd sourcing help.

Good Day to everyone.

I suggest that your friend should look for large crowd around sabzkot area on 27th Feb between 1030-1130am. That will help him find the wreckage. We know that a large crowd had gathered in that area including vehicles of Pak Army. So the first give away will be this crowd and the vehicles. That will lead you to the wreckage.
