Indian Political Discussion

That is because the voting was repolled again, and people dont go out to vote in 45 degrees two days in a row.
Not complete re polling.. Only on those booths where there were issues in VVPAT or ballot machine... The number was only 49.. The margin was however 45000.. Out of all 5 legislative assembly seat, only Bhandara and Gondia witnessed lead for BJP.. even traditionally stronghold of BJP Sakoli witnessed support to NCP.. The Rural belt (read farmers) voted heavily in favor of NCP.. They say, they want BJP in center, but not in Bhandara Gondia.. Now for 2019, BJP does not have a candidate who can fight against prafulla patel of NCP..

One more point, BSP was not contesting, hence vote consolidation for NCP..

Modi did campaign for these bypolls. And BJP has lost UP which is many other states combined....no Modi wave is accepted by BJP themselves.
Where did Modi campagin for bypolls? in your mind? Yeah BJP lost UP! because they lost just one MP seat:LOL:, is that what Congis like you think of winning as? You are so depressed from a string of defeats since 2014, that even one bypoll win, not even your own win, but RLD win and you are celebrating as if you won total UP and it was a Congress win.:ROFLMAO: BJP swept UP and is in power with a overwhelming majority.
You congis keep saying no Modi wave and everytime he takes away a state from you in elections. Keep Daydreaming, good for you!

Farmers distress, isn't Devendra Fadnavis looking into it? and he is letting NCP creep up?

You have less than 1 year for elections buddy....I don't think there is any grand plan here. NDTV debate touched upon a great point- high petrol prices are probably to shore up cash for a large number of sops they are planning to give before 2019 elections. But the price levels have gone so high it might have given irreparable damage to him. Plus modi's reputation for corruption has been offsetting the crappy image that congress has had. They won one of the 11 declared seats.

Your unfailing support to Congress is quite admirable. However you are only looking at confirmation Bias in events. I have suggestion, please keep an eye on what Satrughan Sinha, Arun Shourie and Yashwant Sinha are saying. They will confirm what are you saying. NDTV and The Hindu are passe... read national Herald. they are the beacon of truth these days. Also I know you follow Sanjay Jha on twitter, take his word more true than the gospel. Congress is winning hands down.

Pranab Mukherjee’s proposed trip to Nagpur holds a lesson for Rahul Gandhi: Don’t be guided by the Left’s view of the Sangh

Former president Pranab Mukherjee (Files)
Arrogance manifests itself in many ways. A dictator thinks he is born to rule forever. An ideology that has for some time gained a hold over the masses thinks it is invincible because it alone is right. A party that has managed to win a massive mandate in an election imagines it has earned permanent ownership of the people’s support.

Goethe put it well in his tragedy Faust: “Theory, my friend, is grey, but green is the eternal tree of life.” Life does not take dictates from any theory or organisation. Life rejects arrogance in both ideology and practice, and makes the arrogant bite the dust without them knowing when, where and how. In the last elections, people punished the Congress by giving it only 44 seats in the Lok Sabha. Among the several reasons for its debacle was this: Many Congressmen believed, and behaved as if, their party had the birth right to govern India.

That arrogance has now become the hallmark of the BJP. Soon after 2014, its haughty leaders fancied the idea of a “Congress-mukt Bharat”. The BJP began to treat the Congress, and also much of the rest of the Opposition, with contempt. Barring the interlude of the Emergency, never since 1947 have the relations between the ruling and the main Opposition party been as fraught as now.

Against this dark backdrop, a ray of hope appeared when Mohan Bhagwat, sarsanghchalak (chief) of the RSS, said in Pune two months ago, “‘Congress-mukt Bharat’ is just a political slogan. It does not belong to the language of the RSS.” He further remarked, “We have to include everyone in the process of nation-building, including those who oppose us. Since the RSS is the mentor of the BJP, Bhagwat ought to have given this gyan soon after the Modi-Shah duo coined this egotistical slogan. Better late than never.

Bhagwat also deserves our praise for going a step further and initiating a dialogue with “those who oppose us”. His invitation to former President Pranab Mukherjeeto address a gathering of RSS trainees in Nagpur on June 7, and the latter’s acceptance of the request, mark a welcome breakthrough in our national discourse, which has remained stifled for a long time due to dogmatism and intolerance (from many sides, including the RSS) and its inevitable outcome: Samvaad-heenata (lack of dialogue) and sahayog-heenata(lack of cooperation).

His Twitter account describes Pranabda modestly as “Citizen Mukherjee”. Having served as the President of India with great acclaim, he now has a non-party identity, even though he has been a lifelong Congressman. In Rashtrapati Bhavan, his conduct was exemplarily non-partisan. Therefore, going by his track record, one can be sure the former President will give ample expression to his thoughts and concerns about our nation when he goes to Nagpur. We should not forget that after 2014, and especially towards the end of his tenure in 2017, he had repeatedly articulated his angst over the growing climate of intolerance. The need to defend secularism was a regular theme in his speeches.

Therefore, in Nagpur the nation expects Pranabda to tell the RSS that its goal of making India a Hindu Rashtra violates the core constitutional principle of secularism. He should also urge the RSS to become equidistant from all political parties — and therefore end its special relationship with the BJP — if it wants to be truthful to its own declaration of being a non-political organisation.

No dialogue can be one-sided. If those who are critical of the RSS choose to keep their eyes and minds closed to what is good about the organisation (its patriotism, its cadres’ selfless and disciplined social service) or are afraid of saying publicly what their eyes have seen and their minds have known, lest they are branded as “Hindutva sympathisers”, they should stay away from dialogue. They should stick to their traditional business of diatribe — of calling the RSS a “fascist” organisation and of practising in intellectual life the very vice, untouchability, which they rightly denounce in social life. Indian communists have excelled in this kind of ideological arrogance. Predictably, life has already taught them a sobering lesson. Today, in the collective national mindspace, their share has shrunk to far less than the equivalent of the Congress’s share in the Lok Sabha.

As a well-wisher of the Congress, here is my advice to its president. Rahul Gandhi should not blindly follow the communists’ example of denouncing everything about the RSS. Pranabda’s visit should be the beginning of a wider process of dialogue between the Congress and RSS-BJP, between Muslim organisations and RSS-BJP, and also between the Left and RSS-BJP, resulting in much-needed consensus and cooperation on major national challenges. Our national discourse needs to become future-focused, rather than remain past-obsessed. Constructive dialogue is a precondition for India’s equitable development, social cohesion and the healthy growth of our democracy. The Congress will emerge stronger from this dialogue because, more than any other party, it best represents India’s inclusive culture and constitutional ideals.

Rahul Gandhi should remind himself of the fine words he spoke when he took over as Congress president in December 2017. “I want the Congress to become an instrument for dialogue between all of us. From all corners of our great country. And our dialogue will always be led by light and affection.” Therefore, following Pranabda’s example, Rahul should visit Nagpur or, better still, invite Bhagwat to his home in New Delhi. He should know that even Mahatma Gandhi visited RSS congregations, not once but twice, and even appreciated some of its good qualities. This is because of his conviction, which is as relevant now as it was then, that our common Indianness transcends our differences — and that cooperation-promoting dialogue is the only way to reduce our differences, strengthen India’s unity and accelerate its rise.

Some serious attempt to sow seeds of discontent between RSS and BJP. and somehow rescue congress from the quicksand it is sinking in daily.
Why should BJP not go for the kill and destroy Communists and the Left? these are alien to Bharat always Anti-Hindu and leave no corner to oppress and insult our history, culture, civilization. Such pests should be done away with completely, not let them survive and become immune later on for Pesticides being sprayed on them.

Nope.. The previous MP Nana Patole did not performed for nearly 4 years and although CM is doing best, but can you all demands of Public. We were prety sure that BJP would win, but believe me, its a set back to Party in Maharashtra and the prospects of 2019..

The same MP Nana Patole who didn't do anything, but quit BJP to join Congress. CM should have taken special notice of it.1 year time is still left to make things right. The vote lead was 6000 votes, it is not that big deal to bring down that difference, if CM worked more proactively.

A little correction.. Margin of win was 48,097.. And Nana Patole is a power hungry man.. Tried to decimate old cadre of BJP in the Bhandara..

He jumped into BJP during 2014 and jumped again to Congress mid way. BJP should be wary of such Congressis. If it's 48,097 votes then the CM should look into that matter and gain his lost ground from NCP. The way i look at it, the only face NCP has got is Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel, but they are not people who can give a oration and attract a Mass mob. NCP just now refused to join hands with Shiv Sena and shut the door on their face, this bypoll result NCP thinks it can team up with congress, but NCP is opportunistic, it will go where the wind blows in 2019. Shiv Sena got placated as Secular party by Rest of Opposition for their Anti-Modi idea, in the end ShIv Sena should realize and stick to BalaSaheb Thackeray's ideology and vision. That is what enthuses its core and mobilizes it, i don't know why Uddhav Thackeray is squandering all his Fathers legacy, i would love to see Raj Thackeray take up reins of Shiv Sena instead of Uddhav Thackeray.

NIA registers case against 8 ‘ISIS sympathisers’ from Kerala

The NIA has registered a case against eight Kerala men the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act for allegedly sympathising with banned terror group ISIS, a senior official said today.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the case from the Kerala police which had last year booked the eight people in Malappuram district of the state. The state police had alleged they were “members” of ISIS or ‘Daesh’ and “supported” the organisation by travelling or preparing to travel from Bahrain to Syria for joining the terror group, the official said.

He said the ISIS was waging war against a country that has friendly relations with India.

Those booked were Shaibu Nihar, Manzoor, Mansoor, Shahnad, Fajid, Ashraf Moulavi, Safeer and Muhadis, the agency said.

Last year, the NIA had booked some people for the same reasons under the Act.

Rahul Gandhi will be PM. And we will be colonisising Mars the next week. Just wait and watch. This is the truth.

The Absolute GDP of India was more than that of China and US combined when UPA was in power. Elon Musk was building BFR in the basement of Shriharikota. Modi chased him out with a trident doing naga baba dance.

You dont see the truth. UPA was the best thing to hapen after Mary got pregnant after eating just grass.

guys I'm from the kairana constituency, where the by pol was held and sure BJP lost by around 42000 votes but this number is insignificant because the actual number of voters in this constituency is close to 8 lakhs. plus BJPs core vote bank didn't go and vote like the baniyas. also i'd like to remind you that in 2014 BJP won this seat by a margin of around 2 lakh votes. so don't rejoice.
