Shiv Sena to not be a part of Opposition alliance against BJP
Shiv Sena won't be a part of non BJP front in Maharashtra. Instead, the saffron party has hinted that it has already launched a massive organisational build up to go solo in the ensuing Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. Shiv Sena has down played call by the Nationalist Congress Party for Maha Aghadi (grand alliance) to defeat BJP. At the same time, Shiv Sena clarified that the party cannot associate with Congress in such an alliance due to strong ideological differences.

Shiv Sena also indicated that the party, which is currently sharing power with BJP at the Centre and in Maharashtra, is not in a hurry to get out of the government but continue to play the role of effective opposition by taking up several issues faced by the cross sections of the society. Shiv Sena's move comes close on the heels of BJP national president Amit Shah's two-hour long meeting with party president Uddhav Thackeray for continuation of alliance in the state. However, Shiv Sena unilaterally announced that the party, which lost the Palghar by poll to BJP, will fight it independently in 2019, declaring its resolve to win it.

Shiv Sena Harshal Pradhan told DNA, "Shiv Sena will continue to be a part of the BJP led government for the sake of stable government. However, despite being in power, the party will continue to fight for common man, farmers, women, and other sections." He alleged that the opposition's plan to form mega front is a political ploy to destablise the government and Shiv Sena will not associate with it.

Another Shiv Sena leader reminded that party had contested Lok Sabha elections in an alliance with BJP and had won 18 seats. However, Sena bagged 63 seats in state assembly poll after BJP severed its alliance. "Thackeray has reiterated that party will go alone in all polls which means it will have no truck with BJP or any other parties," he noted.

Mumbai Regional Congress Committee president Sanjay Nirupam also ruled out any possibility of Shiv Sena's inclusion in the proposed anti-BJP front. "Shiv Sena and Congress are two different poles; therefore, it can't become a part of the mega alliance."

On the other hand, Nirupam and state Congress president Ashok Chavan alleged that Sena is desperate for power and it has lost trust of the people.

Feeling frightened and victimised: IAS officers take on Arvind Kejriwal, say 'we are not on strike'
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, alongwith Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai, is sitting at the office of LG for past one week, demanding him to direct IAS officers to end their 'strike' and approve doorstep delivery scheme of his government.

New Delhi: Asserting that they were 'being used for political ends', IAS officers on Sunday said that they were not on strike as claimed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. They also said that all files were being moved and that they were feeling frightened and victimised.

"I would like to inform that we are not on strike. The information that IAS officers in Delhi are on strike is completely false and baseless. We are attending meetings, all departments are doing their works. We are sometimes also working on holidays, all work is being done, all files are being moved... Reports over how desilting of drains has been hampered due to our so-called strike is also not true,"Manisha Saxena, IAS, said.

"We are only accountable to the law. We are completely apolitical and neutral. We have never been required to come out and clarify our stand ," she added.

Another IAS officer, Transport Commissioner Varsha Joshi, said, "I have been targeted by social media handles of a certain political party in an unfair manner. The way we have been forced to do certain jobs is not right... We are feeling frightened and victimised, we are being used for political ends, we are here only for work... All files are being moved... Work not being hampered... Shocked and scared after chief secretary's 'assault'."

Kejriwal alongwith his deputy Manish Sisodia, ministers Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai, is sitting at the office of Lt Governor Anil Baijal for past one week, demanding him to direct IAS officers to end their 'strike' and approve doorstep delivery scheme of his government.

The Delhi CM on Saturday alleged that there is de facto president's rule in Delhi because of what the AAP government describes as an ongoing IAS officers' 'strike'. In response to a tweet about IAS officers 'withdrawing from work', Kejriwal had tweeted, "I agree. It is de facto president's rule in Delhi through IAS strike."

Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP on Sunday accused Kejriwal of resorting to a "political stunt" in a bid to form an "anti-BJP, anti-Narendra Modi" front in the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, who is sitting on an indefinite hunger strike at the CM's office in the Delhi secretariat, wrote an "open letter" to Kejriwal, asking him to look beyond "political interests" and resume work, along with his ministers.

Sangh sounds alert about rivals' propaganda on 'plot' to end quota
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has cautioned BJP leadership about a huge "misinformation" campaign launched by its opponents about the Centre's alleged plan to scrap reservations for SCs and STs.

Sangh office-bearers shared the feedback, gathered through their countrywide network, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah, at an interaction on Friday, saying that an unprecedented amount of energy has been invested in the campaign which apart from alienating BJP from Dalits can also hinder Sangh Parivar's efforts for larger Hindu unity.

Soures said that the PM took cognisance of the "notes" from the ground. The "propaganda" about the plan to dismantle caste quotas and viability of efforts to stitch together an anti-BJP platform were the main political issues in the report prepared on the basis of inputs from RSS functionaries, which was read out by BJP general secretary Ram Madhav.

On Saturday, BJP chief Amit Shah also dwelt on the issue while addressing RSS functionaries at Surajkund in Haryana. He acknowledged that the powerful campaign presents a challenge but asserted that it is not something that BJP cannot overcome, remarks that suggest the government and BJP may soon launch a counter-offensive.

Sangh functionaries also dealt with the effort to raise an anti-BJP front but felt that 'mahagathbandhan' (grand alliance) experiment can work only in certain states as achieving all-encompassing opposition unity nationally will be difficult because of contradictions among potential partners.

Modi had on Saturday hosted a dinner at his official residence for Sangh functionaries. RSS general secretary Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi and joint general secretary Krishna Gopal were among those present apart from general secretaries (organisation) from across the country. "It was a long time since the PM met with RSS functionaries, so he hosted the dinner which was also to take stock of how the country had functioned in his tenure," a senior RSS functionary told TOI.

General secretary (organisation), mostly full-time RSS pracharaks loaned out to BJP, play an important role in organisational matters and are seen as the interface between the party and other saffron outfits. A longtime RSS pracharak before he joined active politics, Modi seeks inputs from the Sangh on occasion to capitalise on the grassroots connect of the saffron fountainhead.

The functionaries have gathered in Surajkund in Haryana for a two-day meeting to take stock and discuss coordination among saffron organisations as BJP gears up for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

The coordination meeting among key BJP and RSS functionaries assumes significance as the Sangh's wide reach and strenuous efforts to expand its footprint provides an advantage to BJP where it does not traditionally enjoy mass support.

The saffron party is already in poll mode with Modi and Shah holding public rallies in poll-bound states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The PM addressed a rally in Bhilai on Thursday.

saala Chutiya, called his CS home at midnight to beat him up. And now he blames Modi for the problem. I will love it if IAS lobby takes long leave and dump this Khujli govt forever.
'PM Modi neither talks to me nor looks at me nor allows me to talk'
How long do you plan to continue the protest?

• The strike by IAS officers has stalled many important works concerning the people of Delhi. The IAS officers do not attend any meeting convened by ministers, they do not respond to phone calls of ministers, nor do they go on any field visits with ministers. It is extremely strange that soon after our government was formed in Delhi, the Modi government snatched all our powers concerning the transfers and postings of officers. Today the elected Delhi government cannot take any action on officers. The officers’ strike + has been instigated by the central government to paralyse the Delhi government.

What if the LG does not respond to your demands?

• We need to understand why this officers’ strike was instigated. Despite being faced with numerous hurdles created by the Centre, the AAP government has performed wonderfully. So people are asking if the AAP government did not allow private schools to hike their fees, and made tests and medicines available for free in government hospitals, what did the BJP governments in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh do in so many years? If electricity tariffs in Delhi are the lowest in the country, why PM Modi couldn’t do so in the country in the last four years? So they devised this way to paralyse our government. But I want to assure the people of Delhi that I will tirelessly keep working for their welfare and their rights till my last breath. Until they end the IAS officers’ strike, we will not step back.

You have said that work has been affected because officers are not attending meetings. Can you share which are the key areas that have been hit?

• On Friday, environment minister Imran Hussain had convened a meeting on tackling air pollution. The environment secretary and member secretary did not turn up. Officers have not attended meetings on desilting of drains, tackling dengue and chikungunya, whitewashing of schools, setting up mohalla clinics, work on Signature Bridge, etc.

You and three other ministers are camping at LG’s office. How is that impacting governance?

• I have already said that the officers’ strike has been instigated to paralyse our government.

Your appeals to PM Narendra Modi have not been answered till now. Do you plan to end the stir and attend the NITI Aayog meeting on Sunday to seek his intervention?

• I have written to the PM and appealed to him that before the meeting, the strike should be called off. It will end within a minute if the PM wants. I have attended many meetings in which the PM is present, but he neither talks to me nor looks at me. In these meetings, the representative of Delhi is not given an opportunity to speak.

After a long time, you have stepped up the attack on PM.

• I am appealing to him with folded hands that he should intervene and put an end to the strike due to which Delhi has got a bad name across the world. The world is seeing that the officers are not working, and an elected chief minister and his ministers are sitting for six days to get a strike ended. Delhi government’s work is being lauded the world over and in September former UN secretary general Kofi Annan along with several other international dignitaries will visit India to see the mohalla clinics.

You say the AAP government has performed better than BJP governments in other states. How did that happen if IAS officers were not supporting you?

• Despite all obstacles in our way, it is our will power and honest politics that has seen our government deliver.

On February 19, the chief secretary came for a midnight meeting. What happened all of a sudden that all bureaucrats started boycotting the routine meetings with you and other ministers?

• There was no attack. It is a ploy to destabilise our government. Since the matter is now in court, I will appeal to all to wait for the verdict.

Do you think it is reasonable for a CM to go to meet the LG with an appointment and refuse to leave his office unless his demands are met?

• We tried our best to resolve this issue through dialogue. For the last three months, we did everything possible to reason with the LG. I have myself met him four times, Manish Sisodia met him four times, Gopal Rai and Satyendar Jain met him thrice. We also wrote to him. Every time, he said just one thing: that he wanted a week’s time to resolve everything. Then we realised that the Centre wants us to remain a lameduck government. So we decided to fight.

BJP leaders are on dharna outside your office demanding your return to work.

• It is beyond any reasonable understanding why they are on dharna. On the one hand they are saying that the officers are not on strike and doing good work; on the other, they are saying there is problem with electricity and water.
A severe water crisis has hit the city when you as water minister are on dharna. What have you done?

• I agree there is a water problem in some parts of Delhi. But in the last three months, whenever I called up the DJB CEO, he did not answer. Barring the formal board meetings, he refuses to attend any meeting. How do I work?

Shiv Sena tried flirting with NCP and others, they got a resounding no despite the Opposition which tried to paint
them as Secular party. Shiv Sena are more Hardcore Hindutva than BJP. I gues they realized that all that dream of rubbing shoulders with Secular parties was just a ruse, The Secular parties used Shiva Sena to score brownie points on BJP.
I understand it is a existential crisis for Shiv Sena, Balasaheb should have appointed Raj Thackeray instead of his son, that guy could have done a lot for the party, Uddhav is just bland and that is why there is no enthusiasm among Sena cadres and they know it very well.

His
MLAS were drunk called the CS in midnight and assaulted him for not doing what they asked him to do.. How is modi or center involved in this? The least Delhi CM could do is Apologize to the CS and things might become normal, but he is instead doing a Dharna in sofas in AC when Delhi was buring up in Summer heat.
He was also an Ex-IAS officer doesn't he have empathy for his former colleagues and his past profession and what they face everyday?
It is all Anarchy Politics for this guy.

Interesting. For the intro, sarvana marathi mahit naahi.

But. BJP and Modi are not responsible for India's booming economy. Factors like young population, low crude prices, expanding real estate helped more than two dozen developing countries see extremely high growth rates. Comparing different policies, BJP is no different from the previous govt and have often backtracked on the promises made in 2014. Almost every ministry has been very mediocre.

Man, have you seen the infrastructure development by the govt? the roads being built? the electricity being generated? the rate at which this is happening is absolutely no comparison to any previous govt.
I mean, when you dont give credit where due, it only shows your bias.

Perhaps. A good example ... The Ganga has turned into a giant sewer because of pakistanis and non-hindus.
Is it just the Ganga ? What about the other rivers in India ? Are they pristine ? Are all the denizens of such places Hindutva vadis?

The problem with you and your ilk is your poison pen / tongue. Instead of focusing on the thrust of the problem , you delight in name calling / labelling and then the entire discourse goes downhill. @Guynextdoor is a supreme example of the kind of members here one mustn't emulate . He vomits random words out here and when his own "holy cows" - pun unintended are paraded , he disappears . Net Result - The whole purpose of the thread is defeated .
