The 150-km plus range Barak-8 ER SAM was a surprise new weapon displayed by IAI at #AeroIndia2019. The missile uses the same seeker and ground based supporting systems as the Barak-8 but features bigger rocket motors & fits into a bigger canister that can also fit the Barak-8. pic.twitter.com/U4VMsMBADQ

However, DRDO has nothing to do with the ER variant of the Barak-8. The IAF is not interested in a longer range version of the MRSAM because it has already committed to the S-400 for long range AD.

Well, it has finally dawned on me why! Because India ordered 1000 Barak-8ER missiles from Israel in 2009! The delivery status of the missiles isn't known. It's likely that IN ships using Barak-8/LR-SAM missile are equipped with longer launch tubes compatible with the ER variant. pic.twitter.com/iv3JMDtFL1
