In another year you will see Russia cozying up to the US. China is an equal threat to Russian as it is to US. Did you know Russia silently opened the Northern Distribution Network for the Americans.

And who said anything about invading, and that too China. It's called standing up to a treaty-bound Allie. They will make china Desperate enough either take Taiwan by force or implode due to Public pressure.

Hypothetical Situation, not saying it's how they would do it. What if tomorrow the US moves in marine expeditionary force into Taiwan airport as a defensive move and declares Taiwan as a country? What do you think china will do? If it doesn't attack XI will be overthrown, if it attacks it will lose its navy and CCP will implode. There are a million scenarios American war machine can get in and out of conflicts if it wants to. And one thing America cant stop is invading other countries.

May be they want to focus more on Taiwan that's why reduced their presence in Afghanistan. US already has good relations with Saudi Arab and other rich gulf countries.

Taliban victory is Not US defeat

It is a defeat of Afghanistan population and Society

They ie US stayed for 20 years and that too their Supply lines stretching to 10 thousand KM

But the simple question is " Why waste
Money in Afghanistan when you have to contain China "

The real problem is China

US and Europe have learnt enough about Islamist Ideology and it can be contained and prevented in their own countries

Lol, US will most likely cut a deal with China than doing anything for Taiwan. It’s laughable when people think that US will come to save another country specially against country as powerful as China.

You are saying this because US walked out of Afghanistan

US tried to put some sense in Afghan brains but they are just crazy wild zombies

Taiwan , Japan , South Korea and Philippines are all Treaty Allies and they themselves are fully devoted to their own countries

In what way did you read that as groveling? If Taliban wanted to, it could very well barricade the Indian Embassy, detain those Indians at the airport on the way out & prevent departure altogether. That would necessitate Indian intervention with Taliban & "groveling " as you put it.

Instead they provided a convoy to the airport.

True, but US has history of breaking treaties. Phillipins case is an example.

I had pointed it out quite sometime ago, about how China's going to start eyeing Vladivostok and other border towns by 2030 or so and Russia will end up joining NATO in response. :p

All the players probably knew years beforehand that the ANA will not be used to defend Afghanistan, especially due to the fact that the US did plan on leaving. Probably why GoI also refused to equip ANA with armour citing the Taliban gaining control over those weapons eventually, never mind trying to cultivate anti-Pax assets in Af.

I would suggest continuous airstrikes on the Taliban and sponsoring of rebel groups to depose them.

The circle will begin again. They will again run back to their caves and hide in Pakistani KPK. Let the Taliban take Afghanistan. I assume you have Unironically taken the the freedom meme seriously??
Let the talibs set up their government and see how they interact. I don't think they want to make more enemies. That will be clear in the next upcoming week.
Taliban seems far more mature than they used too in the early 2000's

Nothing prevents B 52s from bombing the Taliban and their Sanctuaries in Pakistan

The Cost of Bombing is far less than maintaining troops and ground bases

Everything depends on how Taliban government behaves

If it is unpopular amongst the masses
There will be many Afghans willing to help US

Taliban is also motivated by power and money like the Ashraf Ghani government
