Good news
Indian Navy is fast tracking the acquisition of three new Kalvari class boats. Navy chief has asked officials to squeeze the acquisition timeframe. Great capability building for Navy.

We have also seen signing of contract for AIP modules, hopefully the 1st Kalvari goes into refit soon. Cannot wait for it anymore.

Just 1 thing missing. Heavyweight Torpedoes.

They should have included torpedoes in this contract.

This decade will also pass if we wait for DRDO.
One more important thing is the cost.

From estimated 36,000 CR (July 2023) for 3 subs to 20,000 CR (Current Bids). That's huge.
Where did you get the 36,000 number?

Indigenous features in new subs

The major difference between the existing Scorpenes and the new ones is their integrated combat system (ICS), sources explained. The earlier submarines had systems from France, while the new ones will have indigenous ICS, with significant localised solutions provided by Bharat Electronics Limited in collaboration with French suppliers, a source said. The ICS constitutes a significant part of the overall deal value.

The new Scorpenes are also likely to have their 1,250KW MAN diesel engines replaced with the Rolls Royce MTU 4000 series engines. The manufacturer has recently tied up with Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited, Kolkata for their final assembly in India.

A Defence Ministry statement had said that the additional submarines will have higher indigenous content and will also come fitted with an air independent propulsion (AIP) system, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), to enhance their endurance.

The heavy torpedo case is not solved so far? incredible. These subs are like lions without tooth.

The Navy is probably going to replace the SUT torpedoes with the Varunastra HWT. Test firing of Varunastra from subs have already begun.
The issue is not about replacing STU, kalvari class do not have enough torpedoes. Its sharing torpedoes with Type-209 which is still active.

They again gave AoN for 45 or so import. The actual replacement is EHWT which is yet to start show development advances.
