Kashmir : Counter Terror Operation Updates and Discussions

Agree. We need to become like the US where we can go to war without affecting our civilian population up to a certain point.

We are too weak for that.

We are weak because of two reasons:

1. Our population remains too self obsessed to care about the next Indian any day of the week. Imagine we go to war and loose couple of thousand soldiers. Who looks after their families? We get a few thousand maimed soldiers, who employs them? There does not exist any support structure for a soldier. We may have lots of civil casualties, who looks after their families/children/dependents as the case may be?

2. Going to war will require re-orientation of our industrial capacity and logistics support for troops with use of civil transports across various modes. That will have a severe impact on our economy initially. Is the India Inc prepared for that? Or for that matter, India UnInc?

Actually Pakistan is far more vulnerable.
Frankly their military establishment does not care to give a damn what happens to the country. As such vulnerability is subjective.
Instead of going after Pakistan as a state, we need to go after the military. I particularly like the way US deals with individuals by imposing travel sanctions and curbs.
The only thing we need to do right is NOT to do what they expect us to do. Hit where they expect us the least and provoke them.
I agree with that, exactly thats what we should do , but what/where/how is a big question?
Make them purchase more weapons and break their economy completely.
Thats a long term strategy but a failed pakistan might be more dangerous, it might end up leaning more on terrorists.

Oh, believe me, I am all for escalation.

But is the nation ready? Please understand that Twitterati and you and I do not create the war effort. War is not fought by armies or political class, but by the nation and its people.

Our people are blissfully unaware and ignorant and do not want to know. Forget about being prepared to go to war.

It shall need the industries and citizens to make sacrifices at all levels.
You don't need to go to war here. Its much simpler. You need to force the enemy to attack you, where you want. Simple. Declaration of war should come from Pakistan -- if it at all comes.

Just hit a place like DHA Lahore with a large number of rockets like Pinaka. Don't even call it military action, just term it errr.. anything like accident or terrorist activity or anything. Give a complete cock and bull story. No declaration of war nothing, just simple hit. And then repeat the entire dialogue of peace etc etc. There is a reason why I say hit DHA Lahore. Each time, Pakistan does something else, hit another DHA. Repeat and rinse. If you want to bring Pakistan's real leaders to negotiation table, hit its rulers.

Interesting :)

Something similar to Pak base Mehran / kamra attack is required if it's going to be covert action .
Would prefer a long term strategic covert action instead of spectacular strikes. The enemy should not even realize that or by the time they realize it should be too late.

Problem with these bombastic actions like surgical strikes only causes material damage. Its good for nothing. They will pitch the tent elsewhere and will be back in business.

Yup

Defence, Finance, Home and External Affairs I guess.

But CCS is a mere formalization. Decision, I am sure, must have been reached last evening itself

But can the decision be taken without the service chiefs's coming together with the top govt ministers? I know they have sat together on earlier occasions and must have planned.

Even if there is a sea change in the attitude of people, we still can't afford to take care of thousands of dead and disabled and their dependants. And if a nuke hits a city, all those people capable of taking care of others will also go up in smoke. And even without this attitude change, our army is still under-equipped.

We are not yet ready to fight a war with Pakistan at the level that's necessary to inflict significant damage without being affected ourselves.

Why the hell you want to go to war?

Yes, why the hell we always force ourselves in a corner?
Lets give the burden of choice to our enemies.
We could literally throw an Isro slv over their heads from abdul kalam island and say sorry the test went wrong and the kill switch maulfunctioned. Infact we should warn them minutes before also. No one can blame us for that, russian rocket carrying Americans blew up mid flight, how reliable can Indian rockets be after all. Ok im over thinking 🤔

contingencies are always catered too. This one, since Parliament Attack.

Political will is the issue, and this GoI has that I guess.

Interesting times ahead
