LCA Tejas Mk1 & Mk1A - News and discussions

Foc aircraft s were already flying right?
Like the 2 of 3 are already in Dubai are FOC.

( probably, FOC without any concession)

But many new things, reading for first time.

GUN integrated? I thought it was forgone.
Good to see it integrated.

Dual carriage pylon is for the outer most wing station to house SPJ & CCM I guess.. Like the config of Mk1A.

If BVR mid station is also dual pyloned, it ll be even more attractive.
Sorry for the goof up. I just copy-pasted the content from LCA Tejas and derivatives news and discussion (reincarnated) just for the good quality images of LCA FOC. Yes it’s already flying since couple of years. The article is from last year.

Last image is from Aero India 17 as far as I can remember. Even the integrated gun-pod was shown at the same event. Although can’t tell if the onboard Gun trials have been completed or not.

Hammer for Tejas!

@randomradio regarding production line..
@randomradio

Why not SPICE

I think SPICE Could Also have been
Integrated ,since Tejas Radar is a Derived from Elta 2032

India places orders for French HAMMER missiles to enhance Tejas capabilities

With the ongoing conflict with China along the northern borders set to be prolonged, India has placed orders for HAMMER missiles from France to enhance the capabilities of its LCA Tejas fighter jets.

The acquisition will enable Tejas jets to take out enemy bunkers 70km away. The capability of taking out enemy targets from such ranges would allow the indigenous planes to carry out Balakot-like airstrikes with more accuracy and precision, top government sources told India Today.

The order for the HAMMER (Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range) missiles from France for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas was placed under the emergency procurement powers as was done for the same missiles to be equipped on the Rafales. Under a major order, a few hundred missiles would be added to the Indian Air Force’s arsenal, sources said. “The HAMMER missiles from France will help in boosting our capabilities to take out targets in high-altitude areas, such as Eastern Ladakh,” a source said. The emergency powers have been given to the armed forces because of the ongoing conflict with the People’s Liberation Army of China in the Eastern Ladakh sector.

India has already activated two LCA Tejas fighter squadrons and is looking to get four more in a couple of years. They will replace the outgoing MiG-21 inventory. “LCA Tejas is a far better aircraft than the Chinese developed JF-17 and the HAMMER would take it ahead of their fleet in strike capabilities,” an official said.

Wouldn't consider it done yet, the fat lady's gotta sing first before we hear the song. But it's the obvious choice. It's not Chinese and is an actual fighter jet compared to the FA-50. It's gonna suck if we can't win a contest that's being given to us on a silver platter.

Another option is Argentina, but we have to replace all the British components on it. HAL claims there are 50 Brit tech on the Mk1A that require replacement. But it's definitely a massive step-up over its only main competitor, the JF-17, and both are cheaper than the Mig-35. This one's on a silver platter too.

Philippines is another prospect where they will be looking for an anti-China jet. But we may have to compete with the more advanced F-16s and Gripens. Luckily they don't have the money for it, so the cheapest jet has the best chance.

Vietnam, Indonesia and BD are Mk2 prospects.

I think Malaysia deal is almost done as no other country can accept palm oil as payment. India can absorb palm oil worth the entire deal and more.....🤗😊

Eye on export markets, Tejas debuts in Dubai

The Indian Air Force (IAF) and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) are making a splash at the Dubai Air Show, which began on Sunday and will run through Thursday. Two IAF aerobatics teams are catching the eye of spectators — the Suryakiran, which performs with nine Hawk advanced jet trainers (AJTs), and the Sarang, which flies four Dhruv helicopters.

In addition to these, the indigenous Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA), built by HAL, screams through the skies several times each day in aerobatics displays, flaunting its performance to possible customers.
