LCA Tejas Mk1 & Mk1A - News and discussions

Only Ignorants in his immense glory, as demanded from his name, cannot understand sources.

Unsubstantiated opinions in Jane's - bad.
General facts like reporting actual prices - good.

Even they have a reputation to uphold. Doesn't require much grey matter to figure such things out.

Ah ! I see RST didn't disappoint .

Unsubstantiated opinions = bad
General facts like reporting prices = good .

Well , if it were such a black & white affair & the prices are universally known , why're there such huge discrepancies in the prices reported ? No two sources agree on the figures quoted which obviously means they haven't made public the prices & the price comparisons. For good reason . They didn't want the prices to come out before they could tie up all loose ends .

Apparently the caretaker government awarded the tender which by the looks of it was confirmed by the new government elected in Dec 2022 .

Now facts like these are beyond the scope of 8 pm thinking .

Hence till date based on predictions gleaned from actual performance records in the public domain -

PKS 7-8/10

RST 0/10 .

Remember just one prediction by RST would change the strike rate by 100% even if the score line would read 1/10 . Just 1 prediction . Which hasn't materialized in all the 7 yrs he's had the misfortune of making them & I of reading them . Hopefully things change this year . Fingers crossed.

“As far as LCA and other type of aircrafts are concerned, in every Air Force, we will have to have a mix of all types of aircrafts because every aircraft has a certain role. You cannot have all aircrafts of one class. As far as LCA is concerned, it does fit in. We have to remember that it was designed as a replacement for MIG-21. The aircraft has come up quite well. It is meeting those requirements quite well. Yes, if you ask, everybody would like to have all FifthGeneration aircrafts. But we have to see what we can get, what is available in the market. We also have to see what will happen tomorrow. If we keep buying them from the open market in the world, we will never become self-reliant. So, we need to give a push to our own industry also. We need to hold their hands and Air Force is committed towards that. We will make a happy mix and that is why we are going in for MRFA contract for 114 aircrafts. It was, actually, 8 squadron of LCA and MRFA”.

114 aircraft s = 8 squad?
LCA + MRFA = 8 squad or
LCA & MRFA = 8 squad EACH?

8 of each imo, you go by sqn number, if you count just 8 including both lca & mrfa you will never get to 30+ sqn strength given it also talk about LCA being mig21 replacement.
Also kind of hints IAF wanted lca 1 & 2 total 8 number sqn perhaps? In today's age I really doubt the user will risk lca mk1a as multirole like its being branded, irrespective of quality shown so far.

To be honest if we are inducting 8 squadrons of MRFA we need atleast 12-16 squadrons of tejas.
We had 800+ mig 21's and 200+ mig23/27. We need atleast 350-600 tejas mk1's and 150-300 rafale/typhoon. On top of that 3 squadrons of f-35/su-57. At minimum. Another 200-400 tejas mk2's. And 350 super sukhois. That's my wishlist.

Awesome, awesome news mate(y). You've become the harbinger of good news here:)

Tejas MK1A in proper numbers is the remedy to cure our fighter shortage. It's an awesome fighter against popular perception. We need over 250 of these and over 200 MK2. Looks like finally IAF has warmed up to Tejas. Great news for future of Indian military aviation.
