Line of Actual Control (LAC) : India & Tibet Border Updates

China calls for India’s withdrawal from Galwan Valley

India has stressed that it was the Chinese side that attacked its troops in a “pre-meditated” manner

Officials from China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said China had demanded a withdrawal of Indian personnel and facilities from Galwan Valley at the June 6 Corps Commander talks.
A clash on June 15 in the valley, which India has said took place when a violent face-off occurred during the de-escalation process agreed to at the talks, claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Defence Ministry on Wednesday accused India of breaking the June 6 agreement, and claimed India had agreed to not patrol in the valley or build facilities there.
The valley begins from the confluence of the Galwan and Shyok rivers, but the Line of Actual Control (LAC) runs east of the confluence in the valley. China, however, is now demanding an Indian withdrawal from the entire valley and limiting India to the Galwan estuary where it meets the Shyok. Wednesday’s comments from Beijing suggest it is describing the LAC at the “estuary" of the river.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said: “It is the Indian side that went against the bilateral agreement. The Indian side at first agreed to withdraw personnel from Galwan Valley and so it did, and it dismantled its facilities as requested by the Chinese side. During the first Commander meeting on June 6, the Indian side committed to no trespassing of the Galwan Valley for patrolling and for building. The two sides agreed to set up observatory posts at the two sides of the Galwan river estuary, but the Indian side went against this agreement and asked China to dismantle China’s posts, and also it crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC)”, which led to the clash.
India, however, said the clash was triggered by China violating the June 6 agreement, and setting up a post on India’s side of the LAC. Indian officials said the LAC that both sides had been observing has been east of the confluence of the Galwan and Shyok, near Patrolling Point 14, where the clash occurred.
On Wednesday, PLA Senior Colonel and Defence Ministry spokesperson Wu Qian said “China has sovereignty over Galwan Valley” and “for many years, Chinese border guards have been patrolling and performing their duties here.”
“Since April this year, the Indian border defence forces have unilaterally built facilities in the region, and China has repeatedly made representations and protests on this. In the early hours of May 6, the Indian border guards crossed the line and entered the Chinese territory to construct barriers, blocking the normal patrol of the Chinese border guards, and attempted to unilaterally change the status of border control. The Chinese border defence force had to take necessary measures to strengthen on-site response and control of the border area,” he said.
At the Corps Commander level meet on June 6, he said, both sides agreed “to take practical measures to ease the situation in the border areas.” This included India “promising not to patrol and build facilities at the mouth of the Galwan river”, or the Galwan-Shyok confluence. The two sides agreed to withdraw the troops in batches through a meeting of local commanders.
“What is shocking is that on the evening of June 15, the Indian front line frontier troops openly violated the consensus reached by the two parties [on June 6], went back and forth across the line, crossed the LAC again and deliberately provoked China,” he said.
“While negotiating on the spot, Chinese officers and soldiers were suddenly violently attacked by the Indian side. This triggered intense physical clashes between officers and soldiers on both sides, resulting in casualties,” he said.
India, however, has stressed that it was the Chinese side that attacked its troops in a “pre-meditated” manner, following a dispute over a tent set up by China on India’s side of the LAC.
Senior Colonel Wu also said that the Defence Ministers of the two countries had been in communication over phone following the incident.
He said, “The Chinese border guards have taken decisive measures to defend themselves and resolutely responded to the violent acts of the Indian side, effectively safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The incident was entirely caused by India’s violation of consensus and unilateral provocation. It happened entirely on the Chinese side of the LAC approved by both parties The responsibility lies entirely with India. The Chinese side requires the Indian side to severely punish the perpetrators and strictly control the front line troops to ensure that such incidents will not happen again.”
Senior Colonel Wu said both sides had been in touch through military and diplomatic channels following the clash. “China and India are important neighbours to each other, and maintaining peace and tranquility in the border area is in the common interests of both parties and requires the joint efforts of both parties. We hope that India and China will meet each other halfway, effectively implement the important consensus between the leaders of the two countries, strictly abide by the agreement reached by the two parties, continue to properly resolve relevant issues through dialogue and negotiation at all levels. We will make joint efforts to ease the situation in the border areas and maintain peace and stability in the border areas,” he said.

Just carpet it with artillery strikes so that chinese are not able to gold PP14.. Charging onto PP14 now, with the PLA having buidlt fortification, would cause more casualties on our side.. So, soften them up..
Yeah and then escalate war and basically be called the aggressor so we lose any international goodwill. The Chinese are not Pakistanis who will take such abuse silently. Escalating with artillery itself will lead to war. There is a reason the governments have shown restraint against the Chinese. It might be percieved as weakness and is in some shape and form but the Chinese really want to put the Indian government to initiate an attack and use it to arrive on the world stage. Unlike Japan and Taiwan who have the Americans backing them in our case a war will not result in other major powers getting involved.
I would say let's wait if the Chinese don't understand by words simply send 100 men and dismantle that camp and build on that. It's pretty clear there soldiers are wimps so small scale melees wouldn't lead to much..

India China should dismantle Nepal and share it's part as a border agreement, give us our International border, take equivalent area in Nepal and then divide the remaining in half, also for Kailash Mansarovar they can take Everest as it's on their border, easy to assimilate. Multiple dispute will settle at once.

Similarly Afghanistan should be broken and distributed, Pashtun area to Pakistan, PoK, Gilgit Baltistan to India and remaining can be given to 7 stans as per borders. They don't want to stay as country, world will be doing them a favour. Our tiny western brother will be happy to get some strategic depth finally and it may remove their deep running inferiority complex.

#StrongMilitaryBestPM is currently being trended by BJP IT cell on Twitter.
I had told you guys about 12 days back that chinese will try and hold us off in this area and attack from two sides. Depsang and Karakoram pass side. But if we breakthru with our armour and mech inf, chinese we will be thrown back to the east of Kunlun.
We must sieze the initiative this time and attack first. Let us not defend yet again and let PLA have the initiative. Let them dance to our tune rather we dancing to their tune.

First let us stop and blunt their attack

The terrain is such that attackers will suffer grevious casualties

Their Conflict termination objective is not to acquire territory

It is to.declare victory after Killing X number of Indians

Acquiring territory is easy
Holding it is impossible in mountainous terrain

They are trying to draw us in their kill zones

War is inevitable. Chinese are doing a smart thing. They are engaging us in talks and also building up all across LAC. Let us make a dash for Lhasa from Sikkim and Tawang. We need to locate each and every fuel dump and storage tank in Tibet and take them down within first two hours of the war.
Yes, thats how things are poised. There options available are -

1) Mutual withdrawal - Which chinese wont be interested in
2) India give away and move back - Modi will not be interested in
3) Let the guns decide who to remain where

Which is more likely.......... The third one is the most deadliest and will have its impact felt across world not only india but across.....

Really, send 100 men.. thats all it takes ? And who killed 20 IA men.. the same wimps? Also, they have built fortifications and supplies at PP14.. in any hand to hand combat in such a well defended area.. we will lose many more men than the chinese..

IA and PLA positions of last few months. While we were playing nothing happened, everything is ok now, let's disengage, fall back China was building fortification.

When PM misleads a nation on such serious issues it's bound to happen. We should not let any individual do any informal summit keeping security establishment and country in dark. We don't know what was discussed in those summits and they(read Wuhan Spirit) have been used to mask every Chinese aggression, till the point when PM lied outrightly. For him his reputation, image may matter but for that he is giving up a lot from country.

PM is prisoner of his own rhetoric, assessment, country should not pay the price for it.

I sometimes wonder about the real meaning of 'no guns have been fired at LAC', that all these netas including modi makes as some big achievement. China has gobbled up whole aksai chin and continue to gobble up Indian land without firing any guns. Is this a achievement for China or India?

They way they has simply walked into Tibet, they are walking into India.

How??? BJP was supposed to give a free hand to IA and bolster the military. What went wrong? Incursions increased from both China and Pak, with average success on our side and significant rise in soldier deaths.

Its natural that Incursions will increase once a nationalist government comes to power. Its not the fault of BJP. The enemis have pepped themselves up. But the Military really needs to be given a complete freedom to do its job. You cannot bind them with some shitti rules likes guns must be facing to fround when you confront the enemy.
