Know I'm a little late here, but this is what I think about what has happened so far. These are my thoughts based on the video and photo, Indian media reports, and IA statements.
First of all, the photo is likely real. I haven't found it posted anywhere else, and the masks are the biggest giveaway. It isn't really surprising though, considering the IA initially said soldiers on both sides suffered serious injuries.
Anyway, the picture was likely taken around May 5th. A few dozen ITBP soldiers probably conducted their routine patrols around finger 4, right where the LAC lies, but were overwhelmed by thousands of PLA soldiers armed with iron rods. Whether several ITBP soldiers were detained and treated by PLA in the process or whether they were knocked into the Pangong(as claimed by some Indian media and Chinese SM posts) is debatable, but the IA did release an official statement that some soldiers and ITBP went missing but were later recovered. These details add some more context to the photo
The video happened later, possibly around May 20th according to Abhijit Iyer Mitra. In this video, The PLA attempted to intrude past finger 4 towards Finger 3, where ITBP has a major base, but were confronted by reinforcements and taken by surprised. In the process, a PLA humvee was captured by the ITBP, its driver and at least one other soldier were injured, while one other soldier is seen fleeing the vehicle after attempting to gain a vantage point to throw stones. ITBP soldiers strike the vehicle with batons, stones, shields, etc., causing it minor damage, adn the driver flees, leaving behind the badly injured PLA soldier in Indian custody. The PLA then flees back across the LAC, likely to its side of finger 4
A few days later talks are held at the brigade commander level, and both sides agree to exchange captured/injured soldiers. Since then, both India and China have been building up their military strength on their respective sides but have mostly not transgressed across the LAC.
