It's about old cultural and moral values in our part of the world.
My Grandmother was married in early 1930s. Recording exact dates of marriage or birth wasn't in vogue those days so she didn't remember exact year. Also my dad didn't know his birthday, just knew it was early summer when he was born. It's the same for all older generation in our area. Nobody knows their birthday.
Anyway back to the actual story.
My grandmother's dad was a mediocre guy, not rich but not poor either.
He worked hard to make enough money to buy gold for his daughter to be given to her on her marriage. As the wedding preparations were in full swing , just a week before wedding date their house was burgled at night and the thieves too away all the gold.
The next morning when family woke up, they found out what happened and were distressed. It used to be the time of nautical twilight in those days when everyone woke up.
My grandmother's dad knew local "Don". He straight away went to him and complained about the heist. Told him that his daughter is going the get married next week, the whole area knows about it and yet someone robbed the gold reserved for the bride to be. Then he reminded the Don about a moral / cultural code of the era "Dhiyaan sabdiaan sannjhiaan" . "Daughters are everyone's responsibility" . Lack of or very low policing meant people had to live by certain unwritten ethnic, cultural codes which were as good as laws and nobody was supposed to break them.
After hearing the reference to the cultural code, the Don became furious and asked my grandmother's dad to just go home and relax and his gold will be back before sunset.
True to his words , before sunset a sheepish man was stood at my grandmother's house visitors are " The Baithak" pleading forgiveness as he returned the gold he himself robbed last night.
Strangely enough the robber and the Don and many local criminals with them also attended the wedding. Again pleading for forgiveness as they broke the moral code and stole from a "Daughter and a bride to be".

This Kerala Girl Priya Prakash is really a stunner. A thing of beauty is a joy forever for all generations- LOL.
All good bro. Traded my biking for cycling this past year or so. Probably the fittest (and lightest) I've been in a long time.
Ultra Cycling is pretty new in India but catching on quick. Completed my 200, 300 and 400 km brevets in November and December. Was the quickest finisher on a non road bike (I ride an Indian hybrid) and 5th overall. Which I'm pretty chuffed with considering the elite field of cyclists who do these rides. And me a relative newbie into the sport. And a lot older than most of course ...
How are your hot wheels? What's the latest? How's S doing? Hows that cute grumpy Pakistani uncle who I used to butt heads with (forgetting his name ...)? Whatever happened to you guys after that? I heard you moved to FB (still the dino there ...)?
