Off-Topic Chit-Chat

They can get jobs maintaining the statues. Visitors need food, so they can set up restaurants. They need transportation, so you can become cab drivers. Hotel, hotel staff, carpenters, plumbers etc. There is no limit to the avenues created for employment around the statue. And the govt churns a huge profit after all that. Real estate taxes, service taxes, GST, income tax due to formal employment etc.

Revenue generator.

There a about 60 to 80 odd Forts in Maharashtra, most of them governed by Maratha's at some point, and quite a few built by Shivaji and Sambhaji, and other kings and peshwas. Heritage sights with historical significance and not located in in some obscure tiny island (which by the way will not support any real-estate unless fishes are looking to buy) located in populated areas ,some along the most beautiful coastline and presenting immense opportunity to ,quadruple the tourism in Maharashtra, with multiple locations , multiple opportunities to spread the development across the board but Maharashtra government will build a 3000 cr project in middle of no where. To me it seems absolutely ridiculous.

The statue of liberty example is a bit of red herring, if statue of liberty was in fargo, I bet it would have very different revenues, Statue of Liberty makes what it makes, because it's located in New York, and New York isn't what it is today because of statue either. Just like the Gateway of India, get the amount of visitors it does is because it's in Mumbai, it wouldn't have gotten the same visitors if it was located in bilaspur.

World's tallest statue is bound to bring in more visitors than some derelict fort.

The Statue of Liberty and the upcoming Shivaji statue are similar. But the Statue of Unity and Lord Rama statue will create a real estate boom around it. We will obviously see a lot more such statues coming up over the next 10 years.

As I said, you can't compare a developed country with a developing country. We still need 30 cities the size of the biggest American cities. Which means we will need hundreds, even thousands of towns. So what seems to be nowhere today could become the centre of a town or a city tomorrow.

Dude those forts became derelict because of incompetent nincompoops in the government. You are promoting building a shivaji statue, but do not care about shivneri fort where he was born and nemed after, Raigad, Pratapgad, sindhudurg that he built, sinhgad that was named after tanaji malsure dubbed "Sinha" (lion) by Shivaji himself? That to me is a travesty given that the current dispensation has this same exact mindset, Let the actual heritage die a slow painful death and create these nonsensical unfeasable megaliths for political mileage.

The reality is all this is for optics and spectacle ; aimed at vote-bank nonsense, rather than actually doing sensible work in actual preservation of heritage or developing tourism.

I don't think the money would have gone into the fort anyway.

Also forts like Shivneri are supported by the centre through ASI and not the states.

@Milspec

You dont live in India ,so you dont understand India

Right now the legal position as declared by
SC is that you cant make a statue of a living person like Mayawati

Every thing else is OK

If you want to blame some body
Blame Democracy

@Milspec

India ' s problem is Democracy

People vote for Such Weird Parties that
You wont believe it

You can go to Election commision website
And See Results of Past elections

See those results in Detail

You will find So many small Parties
In State level assembly elections

They get thousands of votes

What makes thousands of people vote for such " Small " parties ( using A polite word )

I will give you a Small example

Recently I went to my Nani's place ( maternal grand mother )

It is a small town , 5 lac population

The Municipality was making a long flyover

But at the existing Circle or Junction
There was a Ambedkar statue

They proposed to Reinstall it some where else

All hell breaks loose , riots, curfew , firing

Then the whole flyover was redesigned
The length of the pillars was increased
So that the statue could fit inside the pillars
At that very spot

COST of flyover doubled , who cares

This is Indian democracy

That is for security, what does building statue bring,
Is it for tourism? if yes how much was allocated for existing heritage sites,
If it's investing in new tourism infrastructure? payback is extremely poor.

So the question is what for? Any accountability?

After Pulwama fiasco, what accountability and security our armed forces shown?

Both are NPA.

@Milspec

You are obsessed with a miniscule amount
For statues

You should see the Expenditure on Salaries
Of Govt employees and the output that it generates

Then see the losses caused by Time over runs in various Public sector projects
Whether Roads, Electricity , Railways
Irrigation , Mining

Then look at the subsidy bill : food ,fuel
Fertiliser , Transport

PSU Bank Re capitalisation ie another
Word for losses

Air India losses
BSNL and MTNL losses

Universal Basic Income for farmers
Farm loan waivers
MNREGA expenses

India is a rich country man

You should at least find out what Lal Topi wants to do with all Kafirs after he conquers
India

40 of us pawns killed by our enemies, did our masters avenged that yet?

Are you happy?

Regarding Lal topi, he can never conquer India and do a regime change. We will be ruled by the same class if that gives you some pride. You will anyways be ruled, probably by Rahul Gandhi as well. Take that.

Yes our Govt has done a lot post Pulwama

And more will be done post elections

And I know that in 2024 Rahul will become PM

So what exactly are you implying by using the word pawn

Do You mean that our Govt killed our soldiers
