Let it happen first, a population hesitant of purchasing even a basic electronic item from indian company should not push indigenous equipment to military.
It depends on the product, we love our desi 2 wheeler/ 4 wheeler from TVS, HERO, BAJAJ, RE, M&M, and TATA but in case of defense product.... even though our product is 2nd best, we should give chance to our indigenous products and that confidence on the product will help the product to grow in long run. The problem is the implementation and we see that in the indigenous small arm selection.
There is nothing like second best or third best. If a product is satisfying armed force's qualitative requirements, then we should give chance. There's scope for work in CMS, Sonar suite, countermeasures, weapons suite, etc. Even just technical help for the internal layout could mean a lot.
