Rafale DH/EH of Indian Air Force : News and Discussions

A press release from Dassault:
"Numerous controls are carried out by official bodies including the French Anti-Corruption Agency. No infringements have been reported, particularly in the context of the contract with India for the acquisition of 36 Rafales,"

a Dassault Aviation spokesman said in a statement. This contract
"was established on a government-to-government basis",

he added, and is being executed
"in full transparency between the various partners, both state and industrial".

As far as India goes, politically, this issue won't be raised as much. Why? The middleman guy has been active since early 2000s and all the way through main opposition party's tenure and has some interesting family links with them.

That said, I am more worried about the fact (if it is indeed true) that he was supplying critical information to Dassault. Though I am not surprised it is like this. Dassault can perhaps wash their hands off him by saying that we hired him for legitimate business need and what he does is his business.

Interestingly, is there a FCPA like law in France?

Whats your confidence level on each toys with respect to indian purchase.
@Picdelamirand-oil also which version you are offering solely f4.2 or f5 version or a combination of both?
We have a duty to offer as much as possible, but I think at the moment India does not have enough money available to buy everything off the shelf. So normally it's up to India to choose, it's India that knows what's most urgent.
My personal opinion is as follows: I don't see much chance for the Panthers, I don't think we will sell 72 Rafales either but maybe 36. The MRTTs seem pretty likely to me because there is a real need for them and it's been close to happening several times. For the 6 SSNs it would be a surprise, a good surprise for us and an indication of a really strong cooperation between India and France.

Also, India not going to purchase a direct ssn purchase from outside, a co development is possible but asper reports we are looking for 190mw class ssn. Do you have such reactor or any design capable to accommodate such reactor? Barracuda of french navy is small for IN i guess.

The Rafale standards are mainly software standards: it is with the software that more and more complex functions are carried out. Unlike in other countries, when a new standard is created and it is capable of handling new equipment that is more powerful than the old one, it must also be capable of recognising the old equipment and handling it in the same way as the previous standard.
As a result, all our Rafales are F3R and are on aircraft that have AESA, PESA, DDM, DDM-NG, OSF or OSF-IT, to give a few examples. Moreover, this equipment is plug and play.
These principles will be valid up to F4.1, but for F4.2 it's a bit different because, for example, there will be side panels for the Radar that cannot be plug and play because the wiring and the cooling system will have to be changed.
So I believe that the Rafales that were delivered to you are already F4.2 ready. This means that we will be able to continue to apply the principles that I have described for F4, F5 and perhaps even F6.

It's roughly the same size: IN asks for 6000 T and Barracuda is 5300 T, but you know that the Rafale is small, which does not prevent it from being able to do the work of a large aircraft. And our SNLE are bigger than our SSN.

To me, illegality; if any? is the issue, not its magnitude. I am trying to understand what this Model stuff has to do with offset obligations.

How can you take corruption for 1 million euros seriously? A bribe is something like that:

Arabia: BAE Systems would have paid secret commissions to Prince Bandar

The British defense group is at the center of a scandal over payments to the tune of 1.8 billion euros to Saudi Arabia. Opened in 2004, the Serious Fraud Office investigation was canceled in December 2006 by the British Ministry of Justice in the name of the general interest of the country

I am so happy that IAF is getting Rafale so quickly.
Now our airforce will also come out of their laziness and accelerate Thunder Block 3 program.
Rafale is far more maneuverable than Thunder or even SU-30.
But a Thunder with HOBS missiles will be a good match.

The problem for you is that you are working with Chinese products. Designed and developed by Chinese. Good luck if it works.

This is the same pic they have for French/international Rafales as well. The special component we are looking for is not here.

All the yellow parts in that image can be found here: they are all Thales-supplied components present on all Rafales.

I've drawn over a few photos to better illustrate the part in question for reference:
