Because the design was russian, and russia at those time intended to use Mig29.Is this the carrier we paid 3 billion escalated from 1 billion.?
How did ' Navy ' fell into such trap?
I think.

Or they won't base any of the 2 in Vikky. It looks as is it is going to need modifying, which ever aircraft is bought.
*Maybe*, Rafale / SH will never go to vikramaditya. They are being bought for new aircraft carrier? Vikramaditya will stick with 29k??Exactly the point. 'Cause even if the land trials are successful, the Rafale or the carrier will still need modifications to fit inside the elevator. This would require time. If sea trials are conducted, then it's simply a part of the trials process. Once it begins, Dassault will have to back out. Hence bad news.
The Vikramaditya's widest elevator is 9.7m. And the elevator's in the middle of the deck giving the Rafale no wiggle room.
The smaller one.
You can see why it's impossible.
It's a very tight fit for the SH.

The wingspan of the Rafale is 10.9 m with its missiles, 10.21 m without its missiles and less than 9.6 m without its wing tips. The nose wheel can rotate 360° and I'm sure Dassault has worked out a movement to get the aircraft into position with limited risk.

Without real world testing on an aircraft carrier how would navy know how much Rafale M can carry on mission and lands safely and how much space will it take, and how it can fit into the lifts. Same for F18sh.If that happens, it's gonna be really bad news for Rafale.
For all you know , the IN / ADA maybe collecting data points for designing the TEDBF . Otherwise the entire exercise doesn't make sense from a requirement or financial PoV. Don't be surprised if nothing comes out of the entire exercise.
How come Aashish is not posting in forums? I guess most of procurement numbers he posted turned out to be not correct. We ended with just 36 rafale. If @Aashish were here, he would have listed out the strategic planning behind the deal..
Would have most probably mentioned
+ Support in R&D of Tedbf in carrier specific & twin engine modifications.
By Whoever wins the contract.
I remember MWF internals readjustment and some to be helped by F16 if it wins
Or by Dassault if Rafale wins.
Wonder what were agreed for that 36 .
Will review his posts this Sunday.
New German government revisits Tornado replacement options
Germany is once again weighing its options for replacing the country’s aging Tornado aircraft fleet, which could put the F-35 back on the table.www.defensenews.com
“Dassault is not ready to accept Airbus as a partner on equal terms,” he told Defense News. “They are saying, ‘We’ll do FCAS, but only by our rules.’”
With Dassault’s export order books for its Rafale fighter full, the company may see less reason to agree on an FCAS fighter and focus on upgrades for its own jet instead, Brandl argued. In that sense, German talk of of an F-35 buy may serve as a fall-back option, he added.
@Picdelamirand-oil what does it means? You will only upgrade Rafale and will not pursue FCAS?
Aren't you aware ? He was arrested for violating the Official Secrets Act & later released on bail - the conditions of which were not to post online. How come Aashish is not posting in forums? I guess most of procurement numbers he posted turned out to be not correct. We ended with just 36 rafale.
Enjoyed his posts though.

Personally I think F18sh has an upper hand due to folding wings
and the fact it will be available almost immediately if leased and also the speed at which Boeing can deliver newly built too at faster pace than Rafale...
Is this real or joke? Please clarify.Aren't you aware ? He was arrested for violating the Official Secrets Act & later released on bail - the conditions of which were not to post online.
Pls check all his previous posts & compare it to what happened in real life. You'd get your answer. Is this real or joke? Please clarify.
(Just kidding) Or was he actually Parrikar, who (unfortumately) passed away and can no longer post?
