Rafale DH/EH of Indian Air Force : News and Discussions

Most definitely. Reliance will be our first company churning out a full flying machine. All others are just subcontractors making parts.

With the C-295, only TATA comes close, but is still a distant second since the deal's yet to be signed.

C-295 not coming yet. Reason: No money (as per MoF)

On the other hand, swanky jets for Communication Squadron to carry around our politicians will be fast tracked when needed.

Same story with IFRs. With delivery commencing for Rafale, Chinook and Apache which means higher installment commitments and contracts for Kamov and MK1A due, where is the money to cater for these long standing requirements? But anyways the defence budget has crossed 3 Lakh crores for the first time in history, that's good enough!

For a pitiful performance, UPA government ordered 82 Su-30MKI, 40 Tejas, 45 Mig-29K, 120+ BAE Hawk, 75 PC-7 BTA, 151 Mi-17V5, 10 C-17, 12 C130, 100+ ALH Dhruv, 8 P-8A, 3 AWACS, 2 AEWC&S (only aviation platforms)

against 36 Rafale, 22 Apache, 15 Chinook, 15 LCH, 4 P8-A and 100+ Dhruv by NDA.

Similar comparisons about IA and IN platforms are equally disappointing, it is no hidden truth that capital allocation under the current government is much lower than the previous government while considering inflation and exchange rates, only the revenue allocation has increased significantly due to the commitments made by the same government. What makes it worse is the fact that any improvement in GDP over the 5 years was not utilised for increasing capital allocation to its deserved level. This is just a propaganda government which brings up misleading stats and figures to make us believe that they are serious about defence. Least they can show is the decency to stop harping about how much importance they give to the defence sector.

Good Day!

Divide by 2, 'cause those happened over 2 terms. And 16 Mig-29s were bought under NDA actually. The first set of contracts for the Dhruv also happened under NDA. So did the 3 Phalcons. So, with the exception of LCA, Hawk, PC-7, C-17, C-130, 2 AEWCS and P-8, all projects were simply follow-on options and not new projects.

Anyway, the navy benefited the most under the current govt. 6 SSNs, a new SSBN class and 11 frigates. And the most aggressive expansion happened in air defence, with 1 MRSAM contract for the army and 1 S-400 contract for the air force.

Old occurrences being publicized now!

Phalcons - GoI wanted the Radars at same price as that of original contract, decade down the line :(
LCA is nowhere, Hawk - an excellent platform doing well and PC-7, again a critical requirement to replace a clearly flawed product.

Akash remains all the best.

But on point, finally the GoI has realised that the aircrafts are also assets ;) Blast pens and shelters are available even for An-32s ;)

By the time the first MII Rafale is delivered, DRAL would have delivered fully certified Falcon assembled from raw material from India. This will give a huge boost to the manufacturing ability of DRAL and silence every critic of MII Rafale.

Pretty normal. Only escalation is allowed in follow-on options. Or else the entire contract has to be renegotiated.

We had paid $1.1B for the first 3, which came to $367M per jet. Now we are paying $400M per jet, which is acceptable.

Earlier they were asking for $1.3B for both, which is ridiculous.

No scam in Rafale deal: Former Defence Secretary Mohan Kumar
-------------------------------------------------------------------
It was the Modi Government which started renegotiating the deal.

We decided to go for 148 aircrafts though the initial deal was for 36 aircraft in a fly-away status.

The government will go for another deal for the remaining aircraft which will be built in India.

The report that the decision to buy 36 aircrafts pushed the price of each fully fitted, combat-ready aircraft up by 41.42 per cent is completely baseless.

The Modi Government worked out the deal afresh and we've decided to buy 148 aircraft.

The initial deal was for 36 for which the price has gone up due to additional design and development of 13 India Specific
Enhancements (ISE).

What this interview clearly shows that
IAF has in its long term Perspective planning , decided to get 148 Rafales

I think he's referring to the new MMRCA tender. It's unlikely to have a separate program for 112 more Rafales while running MMRCA in parallel.

Government Made "Major, Unprecedented Concessions" In Rafale Deal: Report

@vstol Jockey chowkidar insisted that 'anti-corruption' penalities be dropped. Wow!!! And No escrow account so money will not be held until key delivery objectives are confiemed. Ambaniji did not want to wait for champagne.

NEW DELHI: HIGHLIGHTS
  1. Anti-corruption, escrow provisions dropped from Rafale deal: The Hindu
  2. Had earlier reported on PMO's intervention in negotiating deal
  3. Centre has vehemently denied irregularities as alleged by opposition
Key provisions for anti-corruption penalties and an escrow account for payments were dropped days before the Rafale deal was signed, The Hindunewspaper has reported, describing them as major and unprecedented concessions from a government that has repeatedly stressed on fighting corruption in defence deals.

The most unfortunate part is that so called highly acclaimed editors have turned out to be third rate power brokers and dalals. Another problem is that this deal for 36 Rafale continues to be evaluated against the cancelled MMRCA deal which was supposed to be between MOD, India and DA. The new deal is G2G and must be evaluted against the similar G2G deals signed by UPA with USA & Russia. The anti-coruption penalty clause is signed with business entities and not between governments. same is the case with Escrow accounts.
Lastly, Rajiv Gandhi, Indiara Gandhi and MMS govts did not insist on Soveriegn guaranttees in G2G deals so what wrong did NaMo do? The point about "According to The Hindu, the high-level political intervention meant that standard Defence Procurement Procedure clauses on "Penalty for use of Undue Influence, Agents/Agency Commission, and Access to Company Accounts" of Rafale jet-maker Dassault Aviation and missile-maker MBDA France were dropped by the government in the supply protocols" is clearly not valid as the deal was between two governments and DA was supplying aircraft to French Government and not to India. French govt in turn was supplying those aircraft to Delhi. So if at all, the so called deals should have been signed between French govt and DA and not India and DA. In the present deal the seller is French govt and not DA.
But irrespective however anyone can try, you just can't convince a guy who has chosen/opted to be an Idiot.

A G2G sale is always initiated to eliminate middlemen & hence corruption. Therefore the FMS component of the US govt. Under which we've bought a lot of stuff.

Now repeat after me A for Apple, B for ball....

( A minor error in repetition by the special student should necessarily invite a clod over the head)

This is how you and the retard of the dynast you worship needs to be schooled.

so why drop anti-corruption clause. Oh wow , basanti ka piya thinks you don't need an escrow account to make sure they deliver. Just hand over the money and they will come.

G2G deals doesn't leave any scope for corruption, you Anti Christ.

The advance may have been paid to secure a better discount as part of a deal.

Can you please explain why UPA-2 did the same thing with US FMS? No escrow, no guaranttee and no anti-corruption clauses? Tum karo toh jayaaz, hum karain toh to corruption.

When you sell Rafale jet to Basanti with your own bank account you can drop as many clauses as you want....
