Rafale DH/EH of Indian Air Force : News and Discussions

Safran Aerosystems has delivered its first NARANG in-flight refueling pod for export.
The Fuel & Control Systems business unit of Safran Aerosystems (FCS) began in December 2011, a project to modernize existing in-flight refueling pods developed more than 30 years ago to equip the French Navy's Super-Etendard and then Rafale aircraft.

This new generation of pods significantly increases the range of combat aircraft. It also offers higher throughput than previous generations and simplified maintenance. Because of the additional autonomy it gives aircraft, the pod is also an essential safety element during landing manoeuvres.

A total of 8 pods will be upgraded and 16 new pods have been ordered.

After 7 years of development and investment by the teams, the first NARANG* export pod has been delivered to its first customer.

This program is a particularly important project for Safran Aerosystems: a large part of the Safran Aerosystems site at Roche la Molière (42) has been mobilized for this project with the support of the Plaisir site (78).

This ambitious challenge, taken up by Safran Aerosystems, is just the beginning of a series, since the objective remains the same: to deliver the 7 other NARANG pods this year.

How much do you pay 😛

- Length: 2.8 metres
- Width: 0.66 metres
- Height: 0.73 metres
- Mass during the refuelling phase: 410 kg
- Cargo speed: 600 knots or mach 0,95
does it have an inbuilt fuel tank also or is that tank filled up from the aircraft fuel while delivering. What is the length of the hose reel.

Yes there is a small tank in the pod but just to facilitate a continuous supply . For the length I just have this for the moment
