Rafale DH/EH of Indian Air Force : News and Discussions

You will be self reliant in a very near future I think.
Just use the dual seats to be delivered and the simulators.

Is there a special SAM protection bubble for these 2 forward bases?

Not possible it could be a french one ?
Indian Rafale are ready, the problem is from Covid-19 rules for people coming from France to India...

Both the bases are very heavily defended by SAMS of all kinds from point defence to area defence And they also have secondary bases to support them.

I stated that the pic was of a Rafale. That Twitter handle claimed that it is flying within India. I am 100% sure that the pic is of a Rafale. You can make out the down turned canards in CCC config with two engines. No other aircraft in the world has such config. I think that the aircraft delivery of the initial four has already been done considering the urgent need of IAF.

The sqns have a home base and operational bases which are called Operations Locations. The sqns get distributed over a large area and operate from satellite bases or other such areas during hostilities. But Rafale are being positioned on forward bases only.

Baba Banaras posted a pic of an aircraft and claimed that it is flying within India. That pic is of Rafale. Anybody who has doubt about that pic needs some training in aircraft recognition.

You don't train pilots in a ziffy. It takes a long period. It is not just about flying the aircraft but utilising it as a weapons platform.
That is a j10 i guess. Its not in indian airspace, He misreported it as an indian aircraft in indian airspace. Pls notice the offset between the canard & main wing of that aircraft. Rafale is having close coupled design.

I’m not joking. It has two big powerful guns. One on either side
No it has only one at the right side :

Vstol and Picdel are talking about the Rafale. It has only one gun.

M2000 has two.

Let's assume rafale has arrived but will 10 rafale or 36 rafale will make any difference.? Govt. Should have placed additional orders for rafale in 2018 itself or after balakot. And would just ask for 1 specific tot like radar's or something like that.

Not much difference in ordering then or now, I hope they can deliver by continuing the current orders.

It's mainly for offensive mission.
Nuke capable.
Spectra + Meteor
Aesa radar.

U can decide whether it ll successfully complete the mission.

Unless we get full scale war, 36 will fullfill the requirements.

It is not easy to give you more Rafale: the current production is 2 per month but the Rafale produced are for you and for Qatar. Qatar also tells us it's urgent: there's a war in Yemen and the situation is getting worse in Libya. So there is one Rafale per month for India and one Rafale per month for Qatar. And if we decide to increase the production rate today, it will increase in 3 years because the planes that we put into production now come off the assembly lines 3 years later. The French assembly line is capable of assembling up to 3 planes per month and it would take a year to install a line at DRAL capable of the same performance (or less).
Nor can we lend you French Rafales without having dismantled the interface that allows nuclear firing of the ASMP: that's what we did to divert French Rafale production to Egypt, so we could only lend you Rafale Cs that are not intended for this mission and for that to be useful you would need a surplus of trained pilots.
We started supplying Rafales to India in September 2019 so we must have 9 or 10 of them and the goal is probably to deliver 5 to India and use the others to continue training pilots and to develop certain capabilities specific to India that will be delivered in 2022 by retrofit during the summer.

No the assembly line is flexible and is able to deliver 1 to 3 Rafale a month, but we have to decide 3 years in advance what will be the rate. The current delivery end in September 2022 six years after the order in september 2016 and 3 years after the delivery begining.
If the objective had been to continue the production of Rafale after the end of the current contract you would have had to order them in September 2019, if you order them now you will have them in June 2023 instead of September 2022. The only way to go faster is to divert the French production! (which we did for Egypt).

So, on an average you take 3 years to deliver an aircraft irrespective of the production lines you have. Is that right ?

Yes to assemble one Rafale it takes 3 years, the rate depend on how long you wait before starting the new one: if you wait 1 month the rate is one by month, if you wait 2 weeks the rate is 2 by month. The maximum is 3 by month because you need this time at each position to end the work (sometime you have to work the night to free the position on time).
If the rate is continuesly 2 by month it means that there is 72 Rafale to different degrees of finishing on the assembly line. But the rate have to decrease to 1 until there is new export order (Qatar have one otion for 36 more Rafale)
