Rafale DH/EH of Indian Air Force : News and Discussions

Two guns like M2000 one on each side or only one ?
only one with a rate of 2500 shells/minute. It is a instant fire rate, not as the Gatling (20mm of F16, F15, F18..., 25mm of F35 or 30mm of A10)) that needs small time to reach the higher rate of fire.

AFAIK M2000 cannon rounds are havier than American jets(F16) which are more lethal but take more time to reach at the target. So you have to plan accordingly.

indeed.
M2000 cannons are differents than the one of Rafale :

M2000 cannon : nearly 1200 round/minute each, 30x113mm round, 820m/s muzzle velocity. Weight 121kg each (not sure of this data...)

Rafale cannon : 2500 round/minute, 30x150mm round, more than 1000m/s muzzle velocity. weight 120kg.

So Rafale canon alone has the fire rate of the twice of Mirage, with bigger round, higher velocity for less weight. It takes time to reach a proper reliability... but now it's OK.

Is it true ???

Four squadrons of 16 is 64 fighters... so "another 8" is for squadron or fighter?

8 for TACDE and ASTE.

TACDE is the Indian Topgun.

ASTE is for training test pilots.

I corrected my post. Its 18 aircraft in each squadron and another 8 for our tactics & air combat development establishment (TACDE) and Test Pilots school. We have paid for two air stations, one on each side of our borders. We always position at least two squadrons of each type on one base. So from very first day the infrastructure was fit for four squadrons.

What is the cost/time for moving one type of aircraft to nearby border AB for, say 6 month period?

The sqns have a home base and operational bases which are called Operations Locations. The sqns get distributed over a large area and operate from satellite bases or other such areas during hostilities. But Rafale are being positioned on forward bases only.

The question is when will they arrive..? We need them now.
Baba Banaras posted a pic of an aircraft and claimed that it is flying within India. That pic is of Rafale. Anybody who has doubt about that pic needs some training in aircraft recognition.

Why not send more pilots for training now?
You don't train pilots in a ziffy. It takes a long period. It is not just about flying the aircraft but utilising it as a weapons platform.

You will be self reliant in a very near future I think.
Just use the dual seats to be delivered and the simulators.

Is there a special SAM protection bubble for these 2 forward bases?

Not possible it could be a french one ?
