S-400 'Triumf' News & Discussion

Yes, true! But IAF is no slouch to real-life scenario(s) and they would have tested S-400 with the best they have got. So this is very impressive news IMO.
I said real life scenario is different. Means its a statement not an assumption.

As per some online rumours, IAF is looking towards procuring QRSAM to protect S-400 systems from saturation attack. I think VL-SRSAM also would be a good system to be considered for this particular purpose.

@randomradio, have you seen this leak? What do you think about the numbers?

There's no official word out regarding it.

The numbers look decent though. 24 MR SAMs seem just about right for an IAF battery. Akash Mk2, SPYDER-SR and MRSAM have 24 missiles per battery in 4, 6 and 3 launchers respectively.

The LR SAM composition is new for the IAF, but 6 per battery per type could be what they are going for.

Hope that Russians live upto their promise and deliver the next 2 units in the next year. 5 units are absolutely necessary to tackle both PAF & PLAAF in case of any hostility.
Rather i want s400 to live upto the promise. Heard that Israel bombed Russian station in Syria.

Against missiles they are 50:50 & also expensive but against aircraft even the older s300 have done well in keeping the skies clear.
SAMs are not effective solution.

We should not have purchased s400 at all and spend that money on follow on Rafale purchase. That would have Bring much needed offensive & defensive capabilities against Chinese & Pakistani airforce.

The Turks are looking to dispose their S400 system to make it back into the good books of the US.

It will likely be xfered to a US EW range for use as an aggressor in exercises.

In any case, NATO airforces+ Israel have probably sized up the system deployed in Syria too via SIGINT/ELINT.

Hopefully, we can layer our systems with MRSAM+ Project Kusha to make it more resilient.

The export S-400s are quite different from Russian S-400s. And the Indian S-400s are unique too. The Russians have offered the S-400 to NATO countries, even the US.

But 2 of our regiments were transferred to Donbas, although I guess the Indianized upgrades were removed.
