When we decided to change from 5.56 to 7.62, at that time itself we should have gone in for 6.8mm. This bullet has longest flight time, least gravity drop and retains much higher velocity thruout the flight giving it similar or better stopping and penetration power. I would have gone in for 6.8mmx51 round which would have converted every AR into a sniper rifle as well.

DRDO-OFB 5.56×30mm JVPC spotted with Chattisgarh Police. They placed order for 640 carbines & later CRPF, CISF & other state police units ordered it too. JVPC is currently under production & replacing old sterling carbines. Probably the first image of JVPC in active service. The policeman here is on election duty in Jharkhand.

ITBP Sniper team with a INSAS & a SSG69, there seems to be a spoter scope on the ground. Not a bad combination.:)

@Gautam US is looking for 6.8 new round not SPC replacement for M16.
That's 6.8 x ?? mm ?
The DTTI proposal is to make a 6.8x43 mm rifle.
Is the M16 the standard issue of the US mil ? I thought it was the M4s.
Why no uniformity?????? Procurement , planning everything is just a huge mess
The guy with the EXFIL is probably Ghatak regiment soldier. The rest are standard infantry. The MKUs are getting more common, but given our huge requirements it will take a while to replace the Patka and the 1974 completely.
