Ukraine - Russia Conflict

According to the new law, the only state and official language in Ukraine is Ukrainian. It is to be used during the operation of duties of state power and local self-government. The law does not cover private interaction and religious rituals.

A more logical mind would say the Russian casualty figures are wrong.

The Russians have those as well. But Russian artillery is Battle of Berlin style.

For 4000 men, the Americans have 18 guns and 6 MLRS. For 700 men the Russians have upto 18 guns and 6 MLRS, for 4000 men, that's up to 100 guns and 30 MLRS. I don't think you can imagine what sort of firepower that really is when it falls on a city.

The Russian military has been created for world wars against the First World, not for bullying Third World countries.
A more logical mind would just accept facts rather than twisting and turning to protect their delusions about Russia.

Well they're not using them.

Quantity has been created to hide poor quality. Same with its tanks. The T-90 is barely an IFV armour-wise by NATO standards.

Society doesn't function very well if you have to discuss official matters in multiple languages and teach in multiple languages (except foreign languages obviously). The US went through the same process after independence.

You're in no position to comment on intelligence given your delusions.

This view isn't surprising in the least since you consider your mother tongue Irish to be a relic of the past & totally unnecessary in the modern world replaced as it was by a more utilitarian language like English.

Much like how standard Parisian dialect of French replaced all other dialects & languages in 16th century France.

Well Paddy , that's precisely why the Russians launched the invasion. They went by your logic that while barely 10-15 million spoke Ukranian & it wasn't an international language , it made infinitely more sense to use Russian which is both a lingua franca , an international language with 15- 20 times more speakers than Ukranian & hence more utilitarian .

Think about it Paddy & do return in case of any doubts / clarifications. Would happily kick
a r s e for you .

US officials say Russia has asked China for military help in Ukraine

Russia has asked China for military equipment to support its invasion of Ukraine, according to US officials, sparking concern in the White House that Beijing may undermine western efforts to help Ukrainian forces defend their country. US officials told the Financial Times that Russia had requested military equipment and other assistance since the start of the invasion. They declined to give details about what Russia had requested. Another person familiar with the situation said the US was preparing to warn its allies, amid some indications that China may be preparing to help Russia. Other US officials have said there were signs that Russia was running out of some kinds of weaponry as the war in Ukraine extends into its third week. The White House did not comment. Liu Pengyu, the Chinese embassy spokesperson in Washington, said he was unaware of any suggestions that China might be willing to help Russia. “China is deeply concerned and grieved on the Ukraine situation,” Liu said. “We sincerely hope that the situation will ease and peace will return at an early date.” The revelation comes as Jake Sullivan, US national security adviser, heads to Rome for talks on Monday with Yang Jiechi, China’s top foreign policy official. Before leaving Washington on Sunday, Sullivan warned China not to try to “bail out” Russia by helping Moscow to circumvent the sanctions that the US and its allies have imposed on President Vladimir Putin and his regime.

“We will ensure that neither China, nor anyone else, can compensate Russia for these losses,” Sullivan told NBC television on Sunday. “In terms of the specific means of doing that, again, I’m not going to lay all of that out in public, but we will communicate that privately to China, as we have already done and will continue to do.” The apparent request for equipment and other kinds of unspecified military assistance comes as the Russian military struggles to make as much progress in Ukraine as western intelligence believe they expected. It also raises fresh questions about the China-Russia relationship, which has grown increasingly strong as both countries express their opposition to the US over everything from Nato to sanctions. China has portrayed itself as a neutral actor in the Ukraine crisis and has refused to condemn Russia for invading the country. The US has also seen no sign that Chinese president Xi Jinping is willing to put any pressure on Putin. The two leaders signed a joint statement in Beijing last month describing the Beijing-Moscow partnership as having “no limits”, in another sign that the two capitals were drawing even closer together.

The only takeaway from this article is that the US would be shitting bricks if China complied with the Russian request assuming Russia put in such a request.

But the chicoms use pretty much the same crappy equipment the Russian's use or worse since they are copies of Russian equipment.

Maybe they're asking for loans? Or bodies/cannon fodder? What exactly could they want that they don't have in storage somewhere?

To put things in perspective, it's day 18 of the invasion of a nation 1/3rd greater than I raq with twice the population which itself fell after 43 days & had a totally decrepit infrastructure, debilitated armed forces with ZERO outside help.

The foreign minister / head of diplomatic corps of Luxembourg has called for Putin's assassination. It's like the head of state of Maldives or Solomon Islands or Gabon calling for Biden's assassination except these people are much more humble, down to earth , aware of their countries standing in the international comity of nations besides being devoid of the security umbrella that the US provides vide NATO.

Btw, would Paddy & Sweetie be aware which continent the above named countries are located in without searching for it? @BMD ; @WHOHE

-Apparently, the Russians are combing through all of the security services. Missile base troops, troops based in Armenia, etc.

"Thus, according to available information, during March 9-10, 800 servicemen of the 102nd Military Base (Gyumri, Armenia) of the Southern Military District were transferred to the Russian Federation for further transfer to the combat zone. Up to 1,500 members of the 40th Separate Marine Brigade (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky) of the Pacific Fleet are sent to the Republic of Belarus by rail. The 820th Missile Attack Warning Center (Solnechnogorsk) is selecting personnel to take part in hostilities against Ukraine.

In order to urgently replenish the losses of the occupying forces of the Russian Armed Forces, part of the "peacekeeping" contingent is being transferred from Nagorno Karabakh (Azerbaijan) to Ukraine.
"

They are running out of trained, equipped units and are cobbling together companies and battalions from all over into composite units.

Sorry, I prefer facts over your nonsense.

This has nothing to do with protecting Russia. I don't even give 2 sh!ts about them.

I guess in the next couple of years multiple ships would be under refit mode for an indefinite amount of time. I'm waiting for someone here to spin this piece of news positively.
Just like jets, ship engines also need to be overhauled after certain period of time which I believe is below 50K hours. We have not less than 25 frontline warships which are running using Zorya powerplants. The most concerning fact is that we don't have the means (technical know-how) to keep them in working condition to the best of my knowledge Which in turn means we might be forced to cannibalize the existing engines stock (if any) to keep the bare minimum fleet operational.
I haven't kept track of this , tbh. But assuming half our boats come equipped with Ukranian built marine engines , how many of them are with LM2500 , what about the rest & what about spares ?
Above 25 boats including frontline are running with Zorya powerplants, that's what I am getting.

Well , we're definitely in for troubled times . Even if this war ends , we don't know what follows plus there's the issue of the plant which's already damaged ( to what extent we don't know ) . How long will it take to restart operations & for normalcy to return in their production schedule is anyone's guess.

In the meanwhile the 2 frigates being manufactured at GSL will probably be sitting idle for some time assuming work on it is
on schedule.
