US Army is planning to have around 12 systems of IFPC Increment 2. It will be based on AIM-9X. They are also planning to have a new interceptor for later versions.

I don't understand one thing, why can't they use NASMAS or ESSM for the future capability? And if they need longer range better to go with SM-2.

The AIM-120D3 is the latest AMRAAM variant. Featuring improved electronics & a new signal processor, it is designed to be more survivable against countermeasures. D3-SIP will introduce additional enhancements through end of the decade. USAF alone plans to field >2K AIM-120D3's.

I always feel that the US Army enjoys the most from the inputs of US Air Force and US Navy. It gets best of both the services.

As previously mentioned that USAF will procure around 200 NGAD. It is also going to procure close to 1100 F-35 against the expected 1780.

Does it means the USAF is going with a new 4.5 gen fighter to fill the numbers? As stated by the SecDef sometimes back.
