The US can detect missile fired via sats. I am pretty sure if that is the case, you will hear from the US.

I am not sure whether this video has any relation to the issue.

I was following the flightradar that night, and air India, British airways and most non middle eastern fly over flights had changed their routes. At least India and Pakistan are sane enough to block the air space when ever there is high alert.

Doc, "Working nuke" is 10 tonne of equipment and is of no military value. Its deliverable nuke that counts. If you are going to go against US or any of its"partners", you need a nuke which weighs no more than a tonne, so you can deliver it. And given it is Iran, it will need a missile deliverable nuke. That is one more step. It won't work without miniaturization.

Ok

All is well ... all is well.

Cheers, Doc

It's somehow ironic that Iran's response to the US killing of Soleimani has actually done more damage to themselves then the US did. Next time they should just like do nothing and save over 100 of their own people.

True, the first A-Bombs were around 10,000lb and contained only 140lb of fissile material. There's warhead geometry to get right for miniturisation and then there's fusing safety. You can't just store a warhead that can be set off by a stray hand grenade or SA-15.

RT are describing it a conspiracy spiral. Therefore something definitely happened.

In other words, US has ELINT sats or assets in theater, able to pick up a Tor radar being turned on (literally weak SHORAD vs higher powered systems) and could detect SAM launches too..! Global: MilitaryInfo on Twitter ( )
RC-135, EC-130, EA-6B, EA-18G or other similar aircraft, plus SBIRS satellites.

So Iran formally accepts they shot down Ukrainian plane by mistake.

What's with all the training and exercise preparing for one off strike in lifetime yet failing spectacularly at it. That's their job, doing in day in day out, looking at the radar and other info coming in, yet on the day it matter they shot everything except enemy.
That's why Pakistan stopped all planes from flying through its airspace... also, we struck our own helicopter in February. But hitting something like a passenger plane with a huge radar profile is something else..

Iran has agood AA defence , and they perhaps did that to give a message to EU and Canada that Iran can use it's strategic position to target their airliners, similar way during Crimea war.
but it's sad

Indeed. For the non-state Ukrainian rebels this sort of mistake is bad but understandable, for a state actor one would expect sort sort of co-ordination with aviation authorities or even the use of flightradar24.com.

That said it should once again be noted that the airline did not issue a NOTAM in accordance with international air warfare law, however Iran did not formally declare a war which is also non-compliant.

I guess most Islamists don't know FB is owned by Mark Zuckerberg - a Jew. Not that it would prevent them from posting. With the amount of money the Arab world has wonder why didn't anyone come up with an Islamic version of FB & Instagram. Qatar already has a mouthpiece in Al Jazeera. Something they've managed to convince the rest of the world is an unbiased news platform till Egypt sentenced two of their journalists to life terms for fake news & fuelling protests. The mask slipped quickly. It made Qatar take up the matter strongly with Egypt.

Wonder why didn't Qatar think up such a concept?

If this spreads, expect the Mullahs to divert attention from domestic troubles by igniting new fires across the ME beginning Iraq.

I have already said, it's the old soviet union tactic to show strategic superiority over the region. Long back USSR had shot a Korean airliner as well during the heights of cold war, which they said it breached into Soviet Airspace. Or may be they just took the revenge of Iran air flight 685 , shot down by US, 1988
