Zorawar: Light tank for Indian army

this is probably one of, if not the, fastest moving projects in modern Indian defence history. I don't care if they induct it or some import eventually wins, I just hope this pace development contonues. Hopefully it's a sign for the future rather than a 1 off.
Before Galwan, we wanted to contain China while dishing out the pain to Pak. But post Galwan, our planning has changed. We're now looking to comprehensively defeat China and push them deep into Tibet.

The infra drive by BRO, this light tank and other important initiatives have been taken precisely for the above reason. Only fly in the ointment is lack of 5th gen stealth fighter but post Modi Ji's Russia visit, that could be sorted too.

Russia should spice it up by sending two Su57s to India, either on a short-term lease to the IAF or in training.

They are involved in a war for their survival and the 30 odd Su-57s are needed to counter combined NATO air-might. So I doubt about it.

Though what IAF has always wanted was AL-51F1. So if Russia is ready to part with its TOT/know-why/how then anything goes, IMHO.

India has unveiled a prototype of the new light tank Zorawar, it is designed in accordance with the requirements of the Indian Army for high-altitude areas. The developer of the tank was the Defense Research and Development Organization and Larsen and Toubro. The tank was created as a response to the Chinese Type 15 (ZTQ-15) light tanks deployed on the border with India. Previously, India considered the possibility of purchasing the Russian Sprut-SDM1 light tank, more about it in the link to the video in the comments to the video, but in the end it decided to develop its own tank. Reportedly, the experience of the conflict in Ukraine was taken into account when developing the tank. The tank weighs only 25 tons, which allows it to operate in difficult mountainous terrain. The armament of the Zorawar tank consists of a Cockerill 3105 combat module with a 105 mm cannon from the Belgian company John Cockerill and a 12.7 mm machine gun. It is alleged that modular armor is used as protection, as well as active protection systems. The hull of the K-9 Vajra self-propelled gun may be used as a base for the tank. The Indian Army has already placed an order for 59 Zorawar tanks, and plans to purchase a total of 354 light tanks in the future.

They are the one who backstabbed us in 2020 by giving us a misinformation.
Later mediated between India & China, and forced us to take stance favour china. Luckily we backed off from that agreement. Through numerous tweets MrPraveen Sawhney cried a lot multiple occasion for india backing off from that agreement.

It seems unlikely that the IAF will return to Russian equipment, India is currently looking towards Europe or the United States for technologies.
Now coming back to Zorawar ...can we take this platform and mount the anti-aircraft module on top of it like K30 Biho ? 27 Ton Approx

So, the autoloader can accommodate 12-16 rounds of 105mm ammo.

I wonder how many rounds of 105mm can the Zorawar carry. The Chinese & Russian light tanks can carry 38-40 rounds.

@Rajput Lion

What will be the typical range of 105 mm gun tank shell?
Can we fire 105 mm artillery shell with charge in tank?
How about ramjet powered shell?
You have to understand the difference between a tank gun/cannon and a howitzer gun for this matter. Tank gun is designed for slow rate of fire but with higher muzzle velocity because they have to take out other armoured vehicles at around 4-5 kms. Howitzers, on the other hand, are designed for high rate of fire but with much slower muzzle velocity as the point is to throw shells at a higher distance using high elevation.

Now 45° elevation of Zorawar's gun is really interesting, but it could be because of Indian Army's demand rather than its dual usage as self propelled artillery.

So, possible? Yes! Probable, highly unlikely as of now. In future, maybe yes!
