We need a laser guidance kit too. We have seen that use of Excalibur was affected by Russian jamming. But Russians continued to use Krasnopol as it's laser guided.
Those are gun launched right ? ie different from MLRS like pinaka ? or can we develop a system where long range delivery can happen via a rocket, like the payload detaches and glides to the target over long range ?We need a laser guidance kit too. We have seen that use of Excalibur was affected by Russian jamming. But Russians continued to use Krasnopol as it's laser guided.
Gives more flexibility.
Krasnopol suffered from accuracy issues in mountain terrain during Kargil. The IA even replaced the Israeli laser designators they were initially using with Russian-origin systems, thinking that might be the cause. But that didn't work either. But Russians continued to use Krasnopol as it's laser guided.
Gives more flexibility.
Yes both Excalibur and the Russian shells are howitzer launched. Those are gun launched right ? ie different from MLRS like pinaka ? or can we develop a system where long range delivery can happen via a rocket, like the payload detaches and glides to the target over long range ?
ours are triband navigation GPS-IRNSS-Navic based. At least in drdo tenders they often mention this triband part.Yes both Excalibur and the Russian shells are howitzer launched.
My concern was with respect to the threat of jamming for gps guided weapons. In those areas, laser guidance kits can prove effective.
IRNSS and NavIC are same just IRNSS was changed to NavIC, or you meant GLONASS?ours are triband navigation GPS-IRNSS-Navic based. At least in drdo tenders they often mention this triband part.
Even has beidou as backup apparently.
As another example of superior weapons systems handicapped by lack of software adaptability, consider that Excalibur precision artillery rounds initially had a 70% efficiency rate hitting targets when first used in Ukraine. However, after 6 weeks, efficiency declined to only 6% as the Russians adapted their electronic warfare systems to counter it
