Dassault Rafale - Updates and Discussion

The other aspect would be if Russia, feeling emboldened by having Mistrals, tried an amphibious assualt and lost them... would be pretty bad for the French export market of these vessels.
You're playing with fire. However inferior the Russian Marine or Navy or Army is, the moment they mount a French vehicle or vessel in this case or use French arms they become invincible.

What about them?
When NATO expansion happens , Bosnia and Kosovo will also want it. But Serbia will be opposing that most likely. It wouldn't be wise for west to give Serbia capital arms like aircrafts or air defence. In case Serbia decides enough is enough and spark up the Srpska region in Bosnia, another Kosovo will happen but not in NATOs favour.

It's okay we have stealth jets. That said I think Serbia is migrating away from Russia, they are seeing the light.

Rafale for UAE : the first payment is made. The deal is now officially made.

Rafale export log book :
Egypt : 54
India : 36
Qatar : 36
Greece : 24
Croatia : 12
UAE : 80
Indonesia : 6
Total for export : 248.

Option : Quatar 36, Indonesia 36. Maybe Serbia. I hope for myself for Morocco...
Frances says: thank you CAATSA for Rafale order
No need of that to sell 80 bird in UAE, or 24 to Greece or 12 to Croatia.

The Rafale situation is advancing gradually: step by step the Rafale is finally being fully recognised.

Better late than never.

But what's the plan for French production in the 2030s?

France will get to 225 jets by 2030. UAE's final delivery is in 2031. New orders will require parallel deliveries, so they could all be finished well before 2035, including Egyptian, Indonesian and any potential Saudi orders. So will French production end by then? Or will France add more jets to its own inventory?

You are worried about the production of the Rafale in 2030, but 2030 is 8 years away, by then we will have defined F5 and the MLU, even if France will move towards the NGF, I think that this will be a niche aircraft and that it will have to be complemented by a cheaper aircraft, a bit like the one described here:

And the new versions of the Rafale, which is an aircraft that will be amortised and will have evolved for more than 30 years, could well be this complement. In this case, it will be necessary to replace the older aircraft with new Rafales, which will prolong production

I've always assumed even the oldest Rafales will survive long enough to be replaced by NGF.

So will Rafale production happen side by side with NGF? I've also always assumed Rafale production to end, like the M2000's did, once NGF begins. So the F5, F6 also didn't make much sense outside MLUs.

IAF guys & MOD, hell yeah. Poor boys in IAF will be envying on Egyptian fighter pilots. An economically (almost)bankrupt country who doesnt have any potent enemy as on today is providing top end fighter jets to its pilots.
They have found gas in the sea and they have to defend it against the Turks. That's why they are allied with the Greeks and the French.

Their modernization drive particularly their procurement of Rafales , French frigates & the Mistral LHD are being financed largely by the UAE & KSA. There's no way Egypt could otherwise have afforded this purchase. Part of it is to keep the Turks in check which dovetails neatly into Egyptian plans too & part of it is cut dependency on Pakistan which otherwise had / still has thousands of troops & dozens of pilots fly KSA , UAE , Qatari , Kuwaiti planes though off late it's come down .

Pakistan is no longer seen as a loyal vassal state which'd do the bidding of the Gulf . That & the increasing radicalization of Pakistan as a society has disturbed the Arab monarchies for eventually they fear , not without justification , that they would be the final targets . After all , all those figures whom Pakistani radicals derive inspiration from are mostly fugitives from these Gulf Arab monarchies & other states like Egypt who're themselves bitterly anti monarchy & anti establishment.
