Vshorads to be made in both multilauncher and shoulder fired application , as expected. Target detection at 12km and 10km respectively.
Nah the rbs-7ng has a range of 9km but is laser guided and the latest mistral is infrared homing with a range of 8km. The drdo vshorad is in the same class as stingers and igla. Even the polish piorun and Turkish equivalent vshorad have higher ranges than drdo vshorad.

Don't bother with the range, they state 15% less every time and what is quoted is the min range asked in the PSQR , like the radars there is always ≥ involved which is not shown later.
So the delay was due to problems in short range which they claim to have rectified.
I think by mid of 2025 this should be ready for production then.
What happened to the plan of modifying it to make it shoulder fired?
For shoulder fired needs it's gonna be Indian assembled Igla S untill DRDO gets MPDMS working
Well see above in earlier posts on this thread page, the tenders of man portable launchers and vehicle mounted launchers were in March April, so work is on. What they are trialling now is establishing the baseline tech, a functional vshorads that you fire from makeshift launcher proto unit and it strikes the targets as per PSQR. Once this is established, improvement and ruggedization will follow, ie better technical parameters all round, variety as man portable launcher and vehicle mounted remote launcher etc.
It can work or the project can fail. But DRDO chief seemed very content with its progress so they must have high hope on this (besides mpatgm) despite mention of no extending PDC in all tenders.
The MD 360 one is likely the one refers to that is in development, MPDMS. This is from the April tender cc @Fatalis
The other one, MD 460 is probably a mounted system but did mention as handheld too
