Precooler Technology Could Bring Advantages To Fighter Engines
Aviation Week & Space Technology
Technology developed by Britain’s Reaction Engines for its SABRE (Synergistic Air-Breathing Rocket Engine) hypersonic powerplant is to be fitted on the Eurojet EJ200 engine from a Eurofighter Typhoon to understand if the technology can help transform the powerplant’s operating envelope. The £10 million ($12 million) project announced by the Royal Air Force (RAF) Rapid Capability Office (RCO) in July will see BAE Systems, Reaction Engines and Rolls-Royce engineers work to ...

Unlikely given that it's going to arrive years after the Captor-E.

Since at least 2014, everyone knows that Euroradar has decided to abandon GaN technology for the E-Captor:

Covers Off Eurofighter E-Scan Radar
https://aviationweek.com/farnborough-2014/covers-eurofighter-e-scan-radar
Officials would not say how many transmit-receive modules (TRMs) have been used in the system but say the number is in the hundreds, and that the radar can operate with up to 20% of the TRMs degraded.
The Euroradar consortium has gone down the route of using Gallium arsenide in its TRMs, rather than the newer Gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor.
Andrew Cowdery, chairman of the board at the Euroradar consortium, says the company did not feel that the GaN technology was yet mature enough for use in the Captor-E’s TRM.
The TRMs are being dual-sourced from both the U.K. and Germany.
Smith said the first radars could be retrofitted into aircraft and be on the front line within three years.

"is in the hundreds" It's a little poor.

"and be on the front line within three years" As the article is from Jul 16, 2014 E-Captor was, at this time, planned to be "on the front line" in 2017!!!

What I was saying is that the GaN radar will not be in time for Swiss eval.

The Swiss contest is simple.

Kick the Gripen out for not being mature.
Tell the Americans they are only interested in European aircraft.
Inform the Europeans their EFT doesn't have an AESA radar.
Buy Rafale.

Just wish we did that with our MMRCA 2.0

That's simple as well.

Tell the Europeans, no AESA.
Tell the Americans their jets are too old.
Tell the Swedes their jet has only one engine.
Tell the Russians we already have the jets they are trying to sell us.
Tell the French to start producing Rafales in India even before evaluations start.

Eventually we will do that. This MMRCA 2.0 is plain hogwash to buy additional time. Rafale was a hot election issue and Modi govt didn't want to get into another controversy. At the same time they needed to show the country that they are doing something for the Airforce which resulted in MMRCA 2.0. In due course of time, this will be cancelled just like MMRCA 1.0 and Rafale will be ordered in tranches, like Su-30 MKI.

would like to add one more point to it.
tell all of them, we are already flying tailor made Rafale for IAF with enhancements paid for by India, whole we need to pay again for India specific changes to any new aircraft. so the deal goes to Rafale.

MMRCA 2.0 won't be cancelled. We have to consider our reputation also.

It will just go to Rafale, particularly bolstered by the fact that we have already paid for enhancements, and the offsets deal has allowed Dassault to build a factory in India for Falcons, which can be expanded to include Rafale also. This will help reduce Dassault's bid.

Election is over, when are we going to sign the deal for additional Rafales ? We need more fighters ASAP. Can't we order in bulk instead of tranches ? Might save some money that way.

Yep. Including the Falcon factory, which can be expanded to make Rafale.

We do have a reputation of cancelling tenders, don't we ;) ?

First we have to release the RFP for MMRCA 2.0. And then we need to allow the IAF some time with the current crop of Rafales we ordered, so that any new upgrades or changes that we need can become part of a new deal.

Furthermore, we need to give some time to Dassault so that Rafale F4.1 can become available. This way we can bring in the F4.1 instead of F3R. F4.1 can become available after 2022. While the French have already ordered 28 F4.1s, we still have to wait and see if it's a good prospect.

I'm assuming Modi may ask for a second batch by mid-2020, or possibly mid-2021. And sign it by mid-2022. I hope it's all done by end-2021 though.

Dude.. let the article 370 drama settle down first. Another big issue is economy. Slowdown is visible everywhere and recession might hit by 2019 or 2020. With all these challenges, I am not sure any big ticket item will be ordered before 2020.

A lot of those tenders were badly run and part of UPA.

The new tenders are all under NDA, and they have created an environment now where the expectations are high. Unlike before, the private industry has also made a lot of investments, and many countries like Russia and US, have been forced to change their laws just to accomodate India's needs in order to win new tenders.

India is not under recession risk. It's a temporary downturn. Not to mention, nothing big is expected in terms of defence deals until after 2022 anyway.

This year and the next, all we are expecting are old deals from the previous term, like some UAV/UCAVs, LCA Mk1A, LCH, some small ships etc. We also have to pay for a lot of stuff already ordered, like MRSAM, S-400, Rafale etc.

You can expect the military budget to start rising only after 2021-22.

Technically India will never be in recession i.e. negative growth for 2 consecutive quarters. But if the growth rate slows down to 6% or less, revenue collection will be severely impacted. In that scenario, Govt will be forced to provide stimulus to revive economy and big ticket defense items will be postponed for sometime.
