What is the point of creating new corps when there is no money to arm them?? Sensible decision.

More men isn't the right direction to go in anyways. India's Army is a unique Army in this day and age that insists on adding more foot soldiers instead of cutting manpower and becoming technologically advanced/using force multipliers. The Indian Army is building a force for the past instead of the present or future; and the worst part is that they get away with this sort of terrible, stupid planning and are rewarded with the Lion's share of the budget, meanwhile the Air Force and Navy are starved of funds relatively speaking.

I agree with the IAF assessment.

We have 3 Phalcons, 2 Netras, 6 Midas, along with only 11 C-17s, 17 IL-76s and 12 C-130Js. How do we split such few assets among 3 or 4 commands? And we also have only 32 squadrons of fighter jets.

Only the IA and IN are ready today to transition to theatre commands. The IAF is at least 15 years away.

Lol, why is Indian procurement so short sighted? It's a common trait amongst the West, but India seems to take it to an extreme level.

Anyone with a brain could have told you India should have ordered more C-17's or why bother committing initially anyways?

Just imagine how much simpler logistics would have been if the IAF had the strategic air lift thing completely down. A domestic solution is at least 20 years from happening with at least 30 years before it takes over primary operations.

Or.. India could have kept the Boeing production line rolling and when caught off guard they desperately tried to purchase 3 more and ended up with one more.

An absolute joke that could have long term reparations on India's security climate. Logistics is the one place you NEVER *censored* around with. Shiny new weapons without the logistics to back em up is what *censored*ed the Nazis.

India's procurement is not shortsighted. We have alternate options for heavy lift if necessary. And we are pretty good when it comes to heavy lift already. The IL-76s are good until 2040. Exercises revealed the IL-76 is tactically superior to the C-17. And we can buy the new IL-476 whenever we want.

Link? I'd be interested in reading about the C-17 vs IL-76.

course I'm not surprised, the C-17 isn't about the tactical.

@Picdelamirand-oil @halloweene

What do you guys think about the claim that "the Gripen E is currently the most advanced aircraft in development anywhere in the world today"?

And also about it having the most advanced EW suite in the Western world?
We're gonna have to prove it. I prefer the F4 version of the Rafale. But it is true that there are only 2 planes in development today in the West, the F-35 and the Gripen, the Rafale is not any more in development, we develop a new standard that's it.

And the second part about the EW suite?
