Those statements were with respect to undercarriage design and not for the effective load out that could be carried by Rafale-M from STOBAR carriers. Just wait for DA to be hit by the most stupid requirements of IN. I am fighting with IN and showing them that their way of calculation for STOBAR launch parameters is flawed especially when it comes to twin engined aircraft.
Is there a plan to use Boeing Production line in India to be used for AMCA, considering TATA- GE venture and Snecma-Kaveri venture which one will be supposedly used in AMCA or will it depend on success of each JV?? Also, like you said LCA Mk1A will be the further choice for IAF too, when will we start using F414 in LCA?

USA doesn't share sensitive technology, at least not sensitive technology with India. GE cooperation is ruled out for engine

If at all it shares the complete technology with TATA, it will remain with TATA and will not be used by any other public/private entity of India, I do not see any harm of USA in doing so as we have requirement of 400-500 engines by 2030. USA will surely go for it, involvement of TATA makes it easily available for Indian fighter aircraft at any point of time. I guess that's enough for both countries.

USA doesn't give technology as technology is an asset. It is a very valuable one and requires years of work and focus. It also helps in generating continuous money from clients and in keeping ahead of others in defence equipment

I don't think that any country is going to give engine technology. Even France is only providing assistance for rectifying flaws in Kaveri. GE was founded in1917 and have produced thousands of engines so for. It's hard for them to give technology for just 400 or 500 engines.

Looks like US is upping the ante, spurred by the increase in strategic cooperation between France and India.

"Juster outlined a US wish list for the next wave of arms sales to India, naming “fighter aircraft production; and the co-development of next generation systems, including a Future Vertical Lift platform or Advanced Technology Ground Combat Vehicles.”

Washington officials have been backing an offer by Lockheed Martin to manufacture the F-16 Block 70 fighter in India, and Boeing’s offer to build its F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter for the Indian Navy. However, this is the first time a senior US official has publicly mentioned a proposal to co-develop a range of combat helicopters (Future Vertical Lift platform) or unmanned ground vehicles (Advanced Technology Ground Combat Vehicle)."

"Senior Indian military officials, speaking off-the-record, say an Indo-US helicopter or an autonomous combat vehicle would provide a major impetus to the relationship."

US ambassador proposes Indo-American helicopters, unmanned combat vehicles

Please understand, the JV between TATA-GE does not give India a take over of US technology, whatever tech transfer will happen it will remain with TATA, its just that availability of engines will be assured, also TATA-GE will make many such LEAP engine components which can be used for Kaveri development, TATA will just act as a company through which HAL/ADA or any public-private sector in India who is willing to develop engines can get components. I do not see any change in paradigm the way GE operates. I do not foresee any loss to GE if at it happens.

That leap engine doesn't involve any meaningful ToT at all. It will only serve in getting bare minimum technology and jobs to India. It is unlikely to help Kaveri engine

We are looking at light and medium range versions also.
And what are the contenders in these categories? How far have reached in evaluating and procuring such systems , if you'd be kind enough to answer ?
Finally , what are the light and medium weight versions we're operating now ? Are we taking about AC here or is it a toss up between fixed wing and rotary wing here ?

24 P8I is minimum needed (ideally 30+) with at least 44 odd Guardians (ideal 60)

Next coming soon is A330 deal - for AWACS and MRTT both..Should see some progress on that.. focus on AWACS and AAR is back .. Dark horse being KC46 for an outside chance.

@Sathya
Not lying low... travelling here and there.. most of the info chain is kind of cold till 15th Jan..

Forces are very very apprehensive that slowly mood is seen in government towards pro-election over pro modernisation and pending deal clearances.. Frustration is growing a lot more with the way things are progressing..

coming weeks should see some BM tests soon for A5 and K4.

Rest will update as soon as I get something..

For light, we have already chosen Dornier Do-228. IIRC, 24 have been ordered.

For medium, the competition is yet to start. It will have a P-8 lite, C-130J, Saab 2000, ERJ 45, Falcon etc as platforms.
