Pakistan planning big incursion across LoC after UNGA meeting, training 3000-4000 civilians: Army sources

Indian intelligence agencies have received inputs that after the UNGA meeting in New York is over, Pakistan is planning something nig along the LoC by using civilian shields. Sources say that the Pakistan Army along with Jamat-ul-al-Hadis (the new organization controlled by 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed) has trained more than 3000-4000 civilian youth in Rawalpindi to violate the LoC in the first week of October.

These also include some youth from the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (Azadi) which is active in PoK.

The purpose of this training is to radicalise these youths and send them to forward areas along the LoC so that they can infiltrate the border in the first week of October, the sources said.

PoK civilians are being recruited so that if Indian security forces target them, then Pakistan can raise the issue of human rights violations once again.

Moreover, Pakistan has once again increased the number of terrorists stationed along with the Pakistani Army at forwarding defence locations.

As a result, Indian security agencies are closely monitoring the Line of Control and have deployed high-level surveillance systems.

Sources in security establishment told India Today TV that terrorists have been spotted alongside Pakistan Army at 32 locations:

Sources told India Today TV the Pakistan Army is also providing full support to terrorists so that they can evade Indian security agencies.

The Pakistan Army is now allegedly hiding terrorists in its defence bunkers near the LoC.

According to sources, the Pakistan Army may once again deploy Border Action Teams with the help of terror groups like JeM and Lashkar along the LoC in the coming days.

To aid the BAT infiltration attempts, the Pakistani Army may resort to heavy firing across the border. The attacks could originate from some launchpads across the LoC, both north and south of the Pir Panjal ranges.

This is nothing new. The only thing new is now the world has started giving attention when the west felt the heat.

Read the recemt news articles carefully and start joining the dots..... You may get an idea what is happening.....

Time to store food, medicines, vegetables.get a proper gun because during war, people attack each like like robbery etc.

Depends on where you live.

If you are from Lahore or any other border area, then it's a problem. PoJK, definitely a problem.

But everywhere else it should be fine, since all-out war is not going to happen anytime soon.

Anyway it's unlikely for any type of conflict to happen right now.

War ? probably a minor conflict. Don't think there will be a war....

two countries, two prime ministers will speak today and i expect hostility.even limited war is dangerous.

Do not spread rumours......

i am expecting limited war or probably small skirmish but i am sure something will happen.i want peace.

In India no such things happen as RSS guys patrol the streets all night.

so what do you mean? do they distribute food, medicine?

They take care of everything. Infact in case of any rail accident or natural calamity, they are usually first on the scene to provide relief. In case of 1962, 1965 & 1971 war they used to stand guard at night in nearly village and street and also helped dig trenches and enforce blackouts.

Are u really short of food, meds and veggies? Why storing them beyond requirement even if it's war? Dunno about u but it'll be just another day here. Law and Order machinery works 24/7 without trouble, come war or qayamat whatever. And civil supplies levels are pretty satisfactory. No food & meds crisis here.

Bro u shd instead try to calm down the panic in your place, if any arises. But u urself are panickin.

Does any one see a not so subtle tussle in the Pak ranks? Imran has been making too many gaffes recently.

He had commented that people picking the gun and going on the LoC were actually hurting Pak
Then his recent comment in the US - we had links and provided support to Al Qaeda

On the other hand we see militants being moved to the forward areas.

Add to it the growing chatter of SMQ making a move for the top spot?

Are u really short of food, meds and veggies? Why storing them beyond requirement even if it's war? Dunno about u but it'll be just another day here. He is not kidding. There is great deal of unrest in many backwater areas of Pakistan. If you see the comedians making jokes there you get a sense of the mood. A recent one I came across had something to the effect of - "Man is not going to LoC for Jihad as he sold his gun to buy potatoes".

As Vstol already mentioned, RSS is very active in times of distress. Especially during wars, they have a long record of managing internal security and reliefs in area where the Government cannot reach due to manpower shortage. You must have heard about Modi being a Chai-wallah. During the 1962 war he used to provide tea to soldiers at railway stations going to forward areas.
A lot of people hate RSS for different reasons but RSS in reality is an extremely disciplined organization and its purely a voluntary service. People who join it are motivated and have deep love for the country.

Can't Be "Terror By Night, Business By Day": S Jaishankar On Pak, Cricket

Highlighting the terror attacks in Uri, Pathankot and Pulwama, he said, "If the dominant narrative of a relationship is of terrorism, suicide bombings, violence and then you say, "Okay, guys, now tea break, let's go and play cricket". That's a very hard narrative to sell to people."

S Jaishankar said Pakistan uses terror as an instrument of state policy and lives in denial of it

New York: Hitting out at Pakistan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said India cannot talk to a "very challenging" neighbour that conducts terrorism as a legitimate tool of statecraft to put pressure on New Delhi to come to the negotiating table, and follows a policy of "implausible deniability".

Addressing an event at leading think tank Council on Foreign Relations in New York on Wednesday, Mr Jaishankar was asked about Kashmir and how he looks to manage New Delhi's relationship with Islamabad.

"Well you used two key words and I would like to begin by differentiating that. One was Kashmir and other was Pakistan. And I'll tell you why I do that. I don't think that the fundamental issue between India and Pakistan is Kashmir. I think it's part of the issues between us," he said.

Mr Jaishankar said the issue for India was not whether it talks to Pakistan, but how it can talk to a country that is conducting terrorism.

"Of course everyone wants to talk to their neighbour. The issue is, how do I talk to a country that is conducting terrorism and which frankly I would say follows a policy of implausible deniability," he said.

"They do it, they kind of pretend they don't do it. They know that that pretense is not serious, but yet they do it. So, how do you address that and I think it's a huge challenge for us," he added.

Referring to the terrorist attacks in India planned and conducted from Pakistan, Mr Jaishankar said Mumbai, which was attacked in November 2008, is over a thousand miles away from Kashmir.

"You had the abortive attack on the Indian Parliament. So I think...we should distinguish between the antipathy, the deep antipathy that the segments of Pakistan nurse towards India from coveting Kashmir. I think they are autonomous issues," he said.

The External Affairs Minister stressed the history of India and Pakistan was not a normal history.

Mr Jaishankar said that despite being a neighbour, Pakistan will not trade with India, is a member of the WTO but will not extend MFN status, even though they are legally obliged to and New Delhi did it.

"You have a neighbour who would not allow you connectivity. So we have, for example, the potential to use Pakistan to transit on to Afghanistan, Iran but they will not allow you that connectivity," he said.

He said such an attitude has slowed down regionalism, largely because of a concern that that might integrate them more with the India's economy. "So it's a very challenging neighbour," he said.

"Now, all of that you could still handle, if they then don't do the one thing which is actually unacceptable in the world today, which is to conduct terrorism, as in their eyes, a legitimate tool of statecraft as a way of pressurising you to come to the negating table."

"It's not acceptable today as a sort of norm of international relations anymore. You have terrorism in different parts of the world, but there's no part of the world where the country uses it consciously, deliberately as a large scale industry against its neighbour," he said.

Responding to a question on why the two countries have stopped playing cricket, Mr Jaishankar said, "it's very difficult in real life to separate issues."

"So this is a democracy, the sentiments of people do matter. And the one message I don't want to give is, you do terrorism by night and it's business as usual by day. And, unfortunately, that's the message I would give if I were to follow this one (allow cricket matches between India and Pakistan)," he said.

Tensions between the two countries have spiked after India ended the temporary special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5. The abrogation of Article 370 evoked strong reactions from Islamabad, which downgraded ties and sent back the Indian Ambassador.

Pakistan has been trying to internationalise the Kashmir issue after India withdrew the special status, but New Delhi has made it very clear that the abrogation of Article 370 was its "internal matter".

Anger, impatience mount in Pakistani Kashmir as Khan makes diplomatic push

As Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan prepares to deliver another appeal to the world to address the situation in Kashmir, he faces the risk that rising anger in his country’s portion of the disputed region could spiral into a confrontation with India.

Some people in Pakistan’s portion of Kashmir said thousands of people were preparing to storm the line of control (LOC) - a ceasefire line agreed with India that is one of the most militarized frontiers in the world. Reuters could not independently verify the claims.

But regional tensions have swelled since India stripped its portion of Kashmir of autonomy in August, made mass arrests, limited communications and imposed curfew-like restrictions in some areas to contain a decades-long uprising against New Delhi’s rule.

Khan has appealed to Kashmiris to give him the chance to sway the international community and he is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday, but patience appears to be in short supply in Pakistani Kashmir.

“We are all waiting for the United Nations...to see if the world can help us. Otherwise, we will try to break the LOC border,” said Habib Urhman Afaqi, the president of the Jamaat-e-Islami political party for the district of Kotli, near the LOC. He said tens of thousands of men around the region were organizing by word of mouth and social media.

“We are preparing people, emotionally, and collectively we will be ready to fight on 27 September,” Afaqi said.

As of Thursday, there were no signs of any gathering of people in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan’s portion of Kashmir which is about 30 km (18 miles) from the LOC. Political leaders in the region said they were waiting until after Khan’s speech to take action.

Khan has strongly criticized New Delhi’s actions in Kashmir in an international diplomacy campaign and cut off trade ties, but has condemned the plan to storm the LOC. He said in a speech this month that anyone who attempted to cross the border risked drawing the ire of India, losing international sympathy and would be an “enemy of Kashmir”.

Pakistan’s military said it would not allow any one to cross the LOC.

“Pakistan is making all peaceful/diplomatic efforts to awaken world conscience to get them (Kashmiris) relief,” the military’s media wing said in an e-mail. “However, as stated earlier Pakistan keeps all options open and shall go to any extent as regards resolution of the Kashmir dispute.”

“CANNON FODDER”

Both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers and have fought three wars since independence in 1947, two of them over Kashmir.

A spokesman for the Indian military warned against using Kashmiris as “cannon fodder” and said he hoped Pakistan would ensure the LOC was not breached.

“The Indian army is aware of the public utterances of Pakistani leaders aimed at instigating unarmed civilians,” the spokesman said in response to a question from Reuters.

“It is a known fact that they are being sent on harm’s way to create a humanitarian crisis to draw world attention.”

Khan told the New York Times on Wednesday that he would appeal in his speech for United Nations intervention in Kashmir but was not optimistic he could accomplish much in the short-term. He warned of large-scale violence in Indian Kashmir when the restrictions on civilian movements were lifted.

Kashmir has been Pakistan’s single most pressing foreign policy issue since it was born out of British colonial India, but some Pakistani Kashmiris say Khan is being weak.

“Imran Khan has nothing at stake and this decision whether to trample down or storm the LOC should be of the Kashmiris,” said Subiyal Rasheed, a 35-year old software engineer from the town of Rawalakot, who says he is speaking with other young men about storming the LOC en masse.

Memes using the hashtag”#TweetoSultan” went viral in recent weeks, a play on historic Muslim warrior Tipu Sultan and a dig at Khan that his battle was being waged through ineffective emotional tweets.

Khan told reporters in New York this week that he was doing everything he could.

“We can’t attack India, clearly that is not an option, and apart from that we’re doing everything possible we could do,” Khan said.

India, which says its revocation of Kashmir’s special status will allow the region to develop economically, has long accused Pakistan of training, arming and sending militants to Kashmir.

Pakistan denies this and says it only provides diplomatic and moral support to non-violent separatists in the region.

Khan has stepped up his warnings this month that India is planning a ‘false flag’ attack on its own soil to give it an excuse to attack Pakistan, a claim India denies.

Syed Salahuddin, a Kashmiri militant commander who heads an alliance of over a dozen groups fighting Indian rule in Kashmir, said in a speech this month that “harsh steps” from Pakistan’s government had hindered his groups’ ability to take action.

He later said in an interview that Pakistan should send troops across the border or convince the United Nations to send peacekeeping troops there.

“Pakistan has been extending us political and moral support...but the Kashmiris want some practical steps,” he told Reuters by phone, declining to answer further questions.

(This story corrects spelling of “cannon” in paragraph 12, sub-head.)

Time to sober up.

US presses India to 'rapidly' ease restrictions in occupied Kashmir, seeks lower tensions - World - DAWN.COM

Alice Wells, a very anti Pakistan offical said this.

Appeasing Trump won't work, he sees right thru it and have snubbed India quite a few times. We should stop his chamchagiri now. Even Jaishankar was visibly upset during the event multiple times with Trump making Modi wait and excessive flattery. Last time India showed strength and diluted 370 it took days for US to formulate a 'non response' even when it was colliding with US efforts in Afghanistan. So please show some spine and stop flattery.
