all of the govt run orgs. Even a bloody simple bomb that can be dropped by drones, why does it take 2 years to develop one ? shouldnt drdo focus on large scale complex weapon systems and let the private players take on simpler ones which can delivered in timebound manner.

there are very few pvt players who have enough infra & required certification from all authorities, like ISO , RCMA, explosives related etc, that can be lead integrator of ammunition, and those certifications are for a limited time. By the time they complete the process to get orders, the duration need further renewal. We gotta accept that in India the military grade explosives business was absolutely frowned upon & only govt controlled setup would get license for mfg. If you can find out the Solar group head Nuwal sir interview from few months ago, read it & you can understand why explosives business did not take off in India yet so far.

There has been very little update on SFDR based Astra MK-3. Did the progress on the program got hampered due to the ongoing conflict?

AFAIK, ground based developmental trials were over and flight testing was to commence by last year. But since then no news of such. Hopefully no news means we're progressing well ever so silently. Maybe our friend @marich01 has some updates regarding the above:)

They need to finish the mission mode projects first, out of the TD, only the HSTDV & glide vehicle projects are priority. Mk1 & Mk2 are priority at present.

There is MkII tender out today which is the quoted part of the sentence below

Nothing serious , just curious why NASM-MR which is a visibly much bigger dia anti ship missile, is shown to be carried in the central 750kg rated pylon on Tejas here. But NGARM, which is 600kg weight, and of much smaller dia (but still a very big missile judging by size of it from Defexpo/AI2023 pics) is not shown to be carried in that particular pylon.
Any particular reason?
What does this tell about possible weight category of NASM-MR, which is rumoured to be of 300km range?

NASM MR is 4.5 m length, NGARM is 5.5 m length.

Center pylon being low, longer missile might hit the tarmac while take off / landing.
