As political arena gets set for the 2019 General Elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to have struck upon a novel idea of setting the ball rolling for the mega fight next year.
The party plans to organise what they have dubbed as the
“Rashtra Raksha Mahayagya”—an
eight-day event from March 18-25 at the Red Fort grounds.
MP Maheish Girri, who announced the event on Monday, said that the party would organise ‘yagya’, a vedic Hindu ritual conducted in front of the holy fire.
“The ‘Rashtra Raksha Mahayagya’ will be the largest cultural and spiritual
“sanskritik mahotsav India has ever witnessed. It will be held at the Lal Quila grounds,” the East Delhi MP and key organiser of the event said. The
‘Rashtra Raksha Yagna’ (ritual for saving the nation) will seek the blessings of the mahavidyas (great wisdom goddesses) in Hinduism, including Bagalamukhi Devi.
The yagya will witness
“as many as 108 yagya kund” from
soil taken from several parts of the country “including border areas like Doklam and Poonch, and water from all the holy rivers across the country”.
The party plans to source ‘ghee’, or clarified butter that will be used for ritual, from different parts of country—one spoon of ghee from everyone, “from President Ram Nath Kovind to the last man in the queue”, according to Giri—for which the party will organise what they call a
“ghee rath yatra”.
Producer-director Nitin Chandrakant Desai will design the stage/set for the event, Girri said.
Like all “yagyas”, this event will also have “sankalp”, or resolutions—as many as eight. Among them are respect for women, freedom from corruption and terrorism, protection of the Constitution and building a fearless society.
A
“devi agaman” ceremony will be held when idols enter Delhi, Girri said.
Invitations for the event are being sent to President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the
Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, as well as
senior Congress leaders, including president Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi.
Girri however promised his party would ensure the city did not “come to a stand still with traffic jams”.
“Proper arrangements will be in place,” he said.
Girri is a disciple of Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
This year, the BJP will fight to retain power in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Besides, it wants to wrest Karnataka from the Congress.
