I think no Ka-28s are active, from these pictures all are Ka-31. We are basically without helicopter based ASW capability. That is one of the primary responsibility of any fleet!. Expertises learned over the years may have forgotten.
If we are going to hunt submarines using latest SSKs then they don't have torpedos!. Half the fleet lacking towed array sonar is the cherry on top.
The fleet looks quite crusty... that salty air is not doing any favors to the paint job.
Last I remember, they were supposed to get life extension from Kamov and suite was going to be upgraded to some Israeli stuff.
Yes, some were shipped to Russia for the same. You can guess the status.

Even though INS Vikrant is headed for “guarantee refit” at Cochin shipyard, INS Vikramaditya is fully operational and ready to chart Indo-Pacific.
