Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said his country has received a "big" package of aid from its all-weather ally, China. Khan however, said President Xi Jinping has asked him not to reveal the quantum of financial support, it added, a media report said.

Khan had met President Xi and Premier Li Keqiang, along with other Chinese leaders on his maiden visit to Beijing earlier this month, where he sought aid to overcome the financial woes faced by his cash-strapped government.

Pakistan has received a "big" package of aid from China but will not reveal it, Khan said during an interaction with journalists at the PM House, according to local media.

The prime minister said he did not want to reveal the quantum of aid from Beijing as other countries will start demanding more money from China, the report said.

Beijing has not revealed the quantum of its financial aid to Islamabad, unlike Saudi Arabia, which has announced a USD 6 billion aid package to Pakistan.

After his talks with Khan on November 3, Premier Li said China will provide the "necessary support" to Pakistan to tide over the present financial crisis.

"Concrete results of my visit are beginning to show. We are receiving all forms of aid from China and are satisfied," said the Pakistan prime minister on his recent trip to China.

"No other previous premiers' tours to China were as successful as mine was," he claimed.

Khan, whose government is currently negotiating a bailout package with the International Monetary Fund, appeared confident that Pakistan's economy will overcome the current difficulties by next year.

"The next three to six months are difficult but from next year onward our economic situation is going to improve significantly and we will be on the right track," he said.

The Pakistan government is facing grave economic challenges as it struggles to avoid a financial crisis and keep the economy afloat.

Foreign investment plunges 46pc

Foreign investors have continued to stay away from Pakistan as they are reluctant to make long-term investments in the face of ambiguity about new economic policy of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) dropped 55% to $161.2 million in October 2018, compared with $354.6 million in the same month of last year, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported on Wednesday.

“Uncertainty has probably remained an element behind slowdown in foreign (direct) investment in Pakistan,” Pakistan Business Council Chief Executive Officer Ehsan Malik told The Express Tribune.

It's just a matter of time when China and Pakistan will signing sale deed for Pakistan. Maybe next year, that's why imran Khan sounds confident that within 6months Pakistan will be out of this economic trouble and will be growing at faster speed. Imran Khan may have signed pre sale agreement and received advance payment of unknown amount....😁😁😂😂😂

Netherlands recalls staff after threats at embassy in Pakistan

The Netherlands recalled staff from its embassy in Pakistan following threats after providing shelter to the lawyer of a Christian woman in a blasphemy case, the Dutch foreign minister said on Monday.

“Unfortunately threats have been made against the Netherlands, Dutch diplomats,” Foreign Minister Stef Blok told national NPO radio. “I discussed the issue with my Pakistani colleague.”

The embassy briefly closed earlier on Monday and “a large number of staff” returned to the Netherlands, Blok said.

No one answered the telephone at the Dutch embassy after office hours on Monday.

Pakistan seeks Europe’s help to secure IMF loan

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has sought help from European countries to ensure smooth sailing during talks at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Board for securing a bailout package and recovering ‘stolen’ assets, presumably stashed in the European states, including Switzerland.

The interaction with the envoys took place a day before the start of policy-level talks with the IMF team which is in town to negotiate a bailout package. IMF’s Washington-based Mission Chief Harald Finger on Monday joined the talks on the last day of the technical round.

Looks like IMF has cleverly brought in their expert in denying the loans "Harald Finger" to join the talks on the last day of the technical round!! :)

When are the details of a financial package kept secret from its citizens? Something PM IK does not want to disclose?? What kind of AIDS is this? The one around the neck in the form of a noose?

Iran says ready to fight terror on Pakistani soil

Iran says it is prepared to carry out anti-terror operations on Pakistani soil under Islamabad’s supervision.

“As the interior minister and the person responsible for the country’s internal security, I announce that we are prepared to conduct operations in areas where terrorists are present in Pakistan, under the Pakistani side’s supervision and with their permission,” Interior Minister Abdol-Reza Rahmani-Fazli said on Saturday.

Fazli said such operations would take place “if the need arises, and they (the Pakistani side) would not possess the readiness to operate for any reason.”

“If we have refused to operate on the other side of the border so far, it has been merely because we wanted to respect Pakistan’s sovereignty,” the minister said.

Rahmani-Fazli said the countries could carry out joint border operations, and enjoy much intelligence cooperation.

He said efforts invested so far by Iranian security and law enforcement organizations, and especially the country’s Foreign Ministry, had led to the release of five Iranian forces, who were kidnapped by terrorists near the Pakistani border alongside seven others last month.

Imran Khan Visits UAE, Likely To Seek $6 Billion Financial Aid: Report

DUBAI: Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in the UAE on Sunday on a day-long visit to the gulf country, where he is likely to seek financial assistance to minimise the cash-strapped Pakistan's dependence on an IMF bailout package.

Mr Khan, who is visiting the UAE for the second time in the last two months, met Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE's Armed Forces, at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.

He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Finance Minister Asad Umar among other officials, the Express Tribune reported.

"The purpose of the visit is to seek billions of dollars in aid as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) becomes unusually tough on Pakistan on the fiscal and monetary fronts, which is hindering early conclusion of talks," the paper said.
