Kashmir : Counter Terror Operation Updates and Discussions

Not sure you have become a kejriwal follower to deny surgical strike or the diplomatic offensive/lobbing which stopped American aid/F-16's/naming and shaming them in all international fora and to put them in FATF black list . You would understand that even 10% of the current diplomatic offensive/lobbying was not not there during the previous regimes if not a kejriwal fan .
And that is our deterrence? How about a proactive security policy that kicks the snot out of the enemy that serves as deterrence to any such asymmetric attack. How about building a force that does not have gaping holes in it which keeps us a decade away from anything close to an IBG, how about rapid escalation at borders via precision artillery?

As far as defense minister and defense policy goes, let me point out how pathetic the situation is, since the 80's India has employed svd and a handful of ssg69 with sf, until army started taking casualties via sniper fire, we did not wake up to the idea of getting log range precision systems, thats how reactive we are. If that is the ideal place for us to be, fine, I won't complain.

.

Even americans with all their hightech weapons and sophisticated intelligence couldn't stop Taliban from attacking them or stop pakistan from training them the point here is nothing is 100% foolproof . Also , we did build something called TSD which acted as a good deterrence against Pakistanis , i don't have to tell you about how it was sabotaged by congress . Artillery strikes are going on in 2 sectors as we speak

Chinook delivery started , Apache coming in july , K-9 vajra delivery started , M777 delivery started , Rafale coming this year and i dont have to tell you about ATAGS, Dhnaush and lot of other basic things like BPJ, Helmet which was struck for 10 damn years is being delivered by this government in a faster manner . I do agree that much more needs to be done but don't make your emotion run over logic

After 9-Year Wait, Indian Soldiers To Finally Get Bulletproof Jackets

After decades of wait, Indian Army finally gets modern bullet-proof helmets

Small arms condition in India is beyond pathetic. I mean, we still cannot manufacture a halfway decent rifle for forces! Freaken rifle! We need to import it! Thats not even pathetic.

Look at INSAS tear down. It looks like a pathetic botch job from over 20 different rifles. And a magazine made of Neelkamal plastic!!! I mean whole world keeps just a simple slit for shooter to keep track of how many bullets are left in the damn rifle yet India cann't be expected to even copy that.

OFB is pathetic. It will change with private sector entry into the industry. And even the Russian JV with OFB will upgrade OFB's capabilities, hopefully, particularly its work ethos.

who are those private players? Is it ambani & co ?
Problem with India is that there is no fair & open system for competition. To get a contract company needs political connections instead of a winning product. Even if every thing goes well then we will armed forces who will shoot it down and buy foreign equipment.

The privates are yet to be picked. The tenders are yet to start. One will be for frontline rifles and another for carbines.

Political connections will be useless. Companies will still have to meet OEM requirements anyway.

Caracal Arms & Thales Australia tied up with MKU. IWI with Punj Llyod. Kalashnikov wanted tie-up with Adani, but GoI shot it down, wanted them to work with OFB alone.

AFAIK, SIG Sauer and other Western gunmakers haven't tied up with any local company, yet. Once the Make In India tenders for the 2.5 lakh rifles and 3.6 lakh carbines start chugging along, they will.

There is no scope for any corruption or favoritism in a tendered process nowadays. Lowest bidder wins, plain and simple. Everything is heavily scrutinized and the slightest hint of wrongdoing is enough to cancel the tender and go back to square one (which is part of the problem if you ask me).

My question remains, Does the accomplishments you list take 5 years to fructify? buying a rifle takes 5 years, for 5 years not a single precision system bought untill we start taking casualties? 5 years for M777 which has production line running to be delivered? In 5 years we have 10 K-9's and 2 ATAGS prototypes for the rapid deployment for the IBG's -Awesome. isn't it?

India was not formed in 2014 neither were Indian security problems, this government verywell knew what it was getting into when it signed up to run for elections. If you really want everything to be compared to previous dispensation and call marginally better performance as it's forte, then fine by me, I apologize for my criticism of the GoI here, Kudos on the response to Pulwama. Congrats All.

MilSpec, we are apparently clear your level of disenchantment with the "Indian" setup of things related to security/defence armed preparedness. We agree it is nothing to write home about. We can debate/whine to death on how pathetic everything is, and again we do get your point, there is hardly any argument there.

But these are the things we know, have known for ages. Yet this never ending, ad nauseam, point. So this begs the question given the pathetic situation what is to be done? surely going on wolf-howls by all memebers here isn't helping. Whats your perspective? Give some thing that resembles some thing interesting and half feasible. can you ?
